Everlasting Wellness With Marie

Everlasting Wellness With Marie Sitting in Circle ⭕ with a group of like minded women is therapy for the mind, body & soul. ❤️ I am following my spiritual path and I steer away from drama.

My name is Marie Barnatt and I feel that I am on a journey into self-development and spiritual awakening. I like to spend time out doors in nature. I have a cockapoo named Bonnie and I enjoy nothing more than adventure's with her and my partner Darren. We love to meditate together, burn candles and snuggle up on the sofa. Recently we have found some amazing walks in the woods, rivers and along the

local coastline. We love to watch the sunsets in various locations, collecting shells, moon bathing and star-gazing. Our future asperation, would be to set up couples retreats in a dream like location which we have yet to find.

🍂 Hello September 🍂

Just a little hint of Autumn creeping into my home today...

I'm not quite ready for the pumpkins yet 🎃😂, but with the 1st of September arriving, I couldn't resist creating this cosy little transitional corner on my sofa.

I've been a little quiet on here lately. Life has simply been busy, and I've been enjoying living it rather than feeling I have to document every part of it.

But I do love this time of year. 🍁

The subtle change in the light, the evenings beginning to draw in, cosy blankets appearing again and that feeling that a new season is just around the corner.

And perhaps the cushion says it best...
Grateful. 🤎

For where I've been, for where I am now, and for whatever this next season brings.

Happy 1st September everyone. 🍂

☀️ Today I chose some space.

Space to slow down.
Space to enjoy the sunshine.
Space to focus on me.
Space to protect my peace.

Sometimes self-care isn’t about doing more to improve ourselves. Sometimes it’s simply allowing ourselves to stop.

No guilt. No agenda. Just a little sunshine, stillness and gratitude for where I am today.
🤍
My peace deserves a place in my diary too. 🌿

Happy 🥰 wisdom Friday.

Have a great weekend x

BEFORE YOU TALK ABOUT SOMEONE ELSE'S FAILURES, MAKE SURE YOU'D BE COMFORTABLE WITH YOUR ENTIRE STORY BEING READ OUT LOUD.

Read that again.

Before you spread gossip about somebody's life, their mistakes, their failures, their struggles, or the chapters they're trying to heal from, remember something.

There are chapters of your life you don't want spoken out loud either.

There are decisions you've made that you're grateful weren't broadcast to the world.

There are mistakes you've made that you'd rather leave in the past.

There are moments of weakness, poor judgment, heartbreak, failure, and regret that you hope people show you grace for.

And that's exactly the point.

None of us want to be permanently judged by the worst chapter of our story.

Yet every day people do exactly that to someone else.

They take a mistake and make it someone's identity.

They take a difficult season and make it someone's reputation.

They take a failure and act like it's the entire story.

But life doesn't work that way.

People grow. People change. People heal. People learn. People recover. People overcome.

Read that again.

People overcome.

I've spent enough time in recovery to know that some of the strongest people you'll ever meet have stories they'd never wish on anyone. Some of the kindest people have survived battles nobody knows about. Some of the most successful people have chapters they aren't proud of.

If their worst moments had defined them forever, they never would've become who they are today.

That's why I've learned to be careful with how I speak about people.

Not because everyone is innocent.

Not because accountability doesn't matter.

But because humility matters too.

The truth is, every one of us has needed grace at some point.

Every one of us has needed forgiveness.

Every one of us has hoped someone would see beyond our mistakes and recognize the person we're trying to become.

The older I get, the less interested I become in discussing other people's failures.

I'd rather talk about growth.
I'd rather talk about healing.
I'd rather talk about redemption.

Because gossip says, "Look who they were."

Wisdom says, "Look who they're becoming."

So before you spread someone's story, ask yourself a simple question:

Would I want someone sharing the chapters of my life that I'm most ashamed of?

Because chances are, the answer is no.

And trust me...The people who are quickest to expose someone else's scars are usually praying nobody shines a light on their own.

🌿 Recipe Monday | Pantry Blessings 🌿

Sometimes the simplest foods can be some of the greatest gifts.

Today I was reminded of humble lentils. Tiny seeds that don't look like much, yet they're packed with nourishment, affordable, easy to store, and wonderfully versatile.

With just a few simple ingredients, you can create a comforting meal that feeds both body and soul, often with enough left over for another day.

I love that nature provides us with foods that are full of life. Plant a seed and watch it grow. Prepare it with love and share it around the table. There's something deeply satisfying about returning to simple, wholesome ingredients that have nourished generations before us.

Wellness doesn't have to be expensive or complicated. Sometimes it begins with opening the cupboard, choosing what you've been given, and creating something beautiful from it.

God's creation has a wonderful way of providing exactly what we need, reminding us that abundance is often found in the simplest of places.

Simple ingredients.
Simple nourishment.
Simple blessings.

"Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in Him." — Psalm 34:8 🙏

Have you cooked with lentils before? I'd love to hear your favourite way to enjoy them in the comments. 🌱

Happy Sunday 🥰

Some days have a way of reminding us that life holds both sorrow and kindness at the very same time.

Today my heart was heavy. I was worrying that I hadn't done enough for a family in our church who have recently lost their daughter. I was reminded that grief is something none of us can fix with the right words, only walk alongside with love and prayer.

Then I came home.

Hanging on my door handle was a bunch of flowers picked from someone's garden. Some were standing tall, others were already beginning to droop, but every stem had been chosen with care.

It made me think...

Kindness doesn't always arrive wrapped in perfection.

Sometimes it arrives a little weathered because it's been waiting patiently for us to come home.

Maybe that's how grace works too.

It doesn't always meet us when everything is in order. Sometimes it finds us after a difficult week, when we're tired, carrying guilt, or wondering if we've got anything right at all.

And quietly it whispers...

"You are thought of."

If today has been heavy for you, I pray that you notice one small kindness before the day is over.

It may be all your heart needs to remember that hope is still blooming.

Life really is a journey, and every season teaches us something new.

Yesterday my computer was hacked.

Today I spent two hours cleaning before finding an elderly gentleman outside who had fallen and was struggling. Seeing his white stick, I realised immediately that his vision was impaired. I helped him back to his flat, settled him on his bed, got him a drink, something to eat, a cool flannel for his forehead, and called for help.

As I left, my phone pinged.

"Insufficient funds."

My bank account had somehow been closed.

For a moment I thought, "Oh, what now?"

But something was different.

I didn't panic.

I called my eldest son, who gently reminded me to stay calm, stay safe, and focus on driving. I came home, greeted an excited Bonnie, called the bank, and discovered I needed to travel into Portsmouth to sort everything out.

In 38-degree heat, it was the last place I wanted to be.

Yet somehow, I navigated it all.

As I reflected on the day, I realised something. The challenges haven't disappeared from my life, but my response to them has changed.

Growth isn't measured by a life without problems.

It's measured by how we walk through them.

Sometimes we only recognise how far we've come when life presents us with a situation that would once have completely overwhelmed us, and we find ourselves responding with a little more patience, a little more faith, and a little more peace.

Every season has something to teach us.

Today, I am grateful for that lesson. 🌿

🌿 Perhaps Recipe Monday arrived exactly when it needed to.

Not only was it a day late, but it also happened to land on the first day of June.

A gentle reminder that wellness doesn't have to begin on a Monday. Sometimes a new month is the perfect invitation to return to the basics: rest, nourishment, movement, hydration and moments of calm.

Here's to a gentle June. 💚

🌿 A Gentle Catch-Up Recipe Monday... on a Tuesday 🌿

It seems Recipe Monday got left behind somewhere between life, teaching, dog walks and trying to remember what day of the week it is!

So today I'm sharing something slightly different.

As someone who believes wellness begins with the simple things, I was reflecting on how often we're looking for the next supplement, miracle food or quick fix, when our bodies are often asking for something much more basic.

✨ Rest ✨ Gentle movement ✨ Nourishing food ✨ Plenty of water ✨ Less stress and more moments of peace
None of these are particularly glamorous, but they are powerful.

When I think about supporting my immune system, I don't think about perfection. I think about asking myself:

💚 Have I had enough sleep lately? 💚 Have I moved my body today, even if it's just a short walk? 💚 Have I eaten something nourishing? 💚 Have I drunk enough water? 💚 Have I made space to breathe and slow down?

Sometimes wellness isn't about adding more to our to-do list.

Sometimes it's about returning to the basics.
And because I can't completely skip Recipe Monday... my favourite immune-supporting lunch at the moment is a simple homemade vegetable soup packed with colourful vegetables and served with a chunk of wholemeal bread.

What's one small thing you're doing this week to look after yourself?

🐾 Never Be Afraid to Ask for a Second Opinion 🐾

Bonnie has been suffering with a condition called CUPS, a painful inflammatory condition affecting the mouth and gums.

Last week, a vet at the PDSA suggested that it may be kinder to euthanise her than continue treatment.

I sat there in complete shock.

In my head I was thinking, "You don't see the same dog that I have the privilege of waking up to every morning. You don't see Bonnie hurtling down the beach. You don't see her running like a greyhound, wagging her tail with excitement. You don't see her happily socialising with other dogs and enjoying life."

🥰 Because that's the Bonnie I know.

When I got home, I spoke to my family. We were all devastated.

Like many families, everyone has their own financial commitments and responsibilities. We talked about trying to find a way to fund a second opinion because none of us felt ready to make such a final decision without exploring every option available.

Then something unexpected happened.

A very kind friend quietly stepped forward and offered to help. There were no conditions, no expectations, no desire for recognition. Simply an act of generosity from someone who was in a position to help and chose to do so.

Their kindness gave Bonnie the opportunity for a second opinion, and for that I will always be grateful.

Years ago, when I worked as a holistic dog groomer, I trained in animal Reiki and achieved my Level 2 qualification. I never continued to Master level. Since becoming involved with my local Baptist church two years ago, I haven't practised Reiki in the traditional sense, but I have always believed in the power of prayer, gratitude, compassion and healing touch.

I practise holistic massage, Swedish massage and sound therapy with tuning forks, and have received wonderful feedback from many clients over the years.

During this past week, I have prayed morning and night. I have journalled endlessly, expressed gratitude for Bonnie's companionship, and asked for healing and wisdom.

Yesterday, we attended our second-opinion appointment.

The vet could barely hear the heart murmur that has been discussed throughout Bonnie's life. More importantly, after just one week of treatment with steroids, her mouth and gums had improved dramatically. The inflammation was minimal, and the vet was clear that euthanasia was not appropriate at this stage.

Whether it was the medication, the prayers, the love, the healing, or a combination of everything, I cannot say.

What I do know is this:

🐾 Bonnie came home smiling.

🐾 I came home smiling.

🐾 My family came home smiling.

As an antenatal teacher, I teach my clients to use the BRAINS decision-making tool:

B – BenefitsR – RisksA – AlternativesI – InstinctN – Nothing (What happens if we do nothing?)S – Smile 😁

When faced with one of the hardest decisions imaginable, I found myself using the very same framework.

I looked at the benefits.I looked at the risks. But most importantly, I explored the alternatives.

And because I did, Bonnie is still here, enjoying life.

To the friend who made Bonnie's second opinion possible, thank you. Your kindness, generosity and compassion have meant more than words can express.

Sometimes the greatest blessings arrive quietly, without fanfare or recognition, and remind us just how much goodness there is in the world.

And perhaps the lesson in all of this is simple:

Never be afraid to ask questions.Never be afraid to advocate for those who cannot speak for themselves. And never be afraid to seek a second opinion.

Today my heart feels heavy hearing that beautiful Betty has passed away. 💔

Just a couple of weeks ago I was in hospital styling her hair, chatting, laughing and hearing about the things she was still looking forward to, especially a wedding later this year. She still had plans, hope and excitement for life ahead of her.

It’s a gentle but powerful reminder that life is incredibly precious and tomorrow is never promised.

So often we delay the things that matter to us…
The phone call.
The day out.
The dream.
The rest.
The joy.
The “one day” plans.

But life has a way of reminding us that maybe we shouldn’t wait quite so long.

I feel truly grateful that through Everlasting Wellness with Marie I had the privilege of spending time with Betty and helping her feel cared for, comfortable and herself during a difficult time. These moments mean far more than people realise.

Rest peacefully Betty. Thank you for the conversations, the smiles and the reminder to live while we can.
