Today was our first Craft Club Juniors!

We now officially have a full house of basic skills graduates. Our final junior completed her basic skills today.

Today i decided on a simple sewing project, making a bow because we had housekeeping to squeeze in and getting to know each other. We talked about expectations, rules, safety and how things are going to work, i’ve appointed our first two date monitors (a very important job which the Senior girls absolutely love!).

I got them all to work out how to put themselves into age order without my help, which immediately got everyone talking, we also played a few little name games. #

They also received their own Craft Club passports today! Each passport will become a little record of their time at Craft Club, at every session I’ll choose one of their Craft Club “superpowers” to record in it. They may well earn several during a session, but one special one will make it into their passport each time.

I cannot believe how quickly they are already starting to bond as a little group. They were so chatty, so lovely with each other and just an absolute pleasure to spend two hours with. A couple of little shy ones that will come out their shell soon.

We also have a few comedians who thought the pattern looked like a moustache so guess what they did … 🤦🏽‍♀️

We had some lovely baking to enjoy too (thank you to our first baker Emily! 🧁), we had our first group photograph which will hang in my Cabin.

A huge thank you to my wonderful helper from Craft Club Seniors, Alice, who was absolutely brilliant with them and incredibly useful 💕

The bows were a nice first project, it gave the girls some ironing practice, sewing machine re cap but most importantly, a chance to start building confidence. That’s what this first term is going to be about, getting comfortable, having a go and realising just how much they can do by being fearless little lion cubs.

They all looked absolutely adorable wearing their finished bows.

Very successful first Craft Club Juniors. I’m sad I have to wait a whole month to see them again.

Oh, and Patch Gravels has gone off with Annabel for his first month travels *sniffle*

Today is the 5th anniversary of Craft Club 🥳🧵

Starting Craft Club has been one of my best ideas. I absolutely love it. When the girls arrive, life is good.

Over the last five years I’ve watched shy, quiet little girls grow into confident, funny, intelligent young women.

Special mention has to go to the three “OGs” (as they call themselves 😂) Ava, Alice and Phoebe who have been here from the very beginning.

They all regularly threaten me by telling me they’re never leaving.

I genuinely love spending time with these girls. We laugh, we chat, we create and for a couple of hours once a month in our no-phone zone.

Happy 5th birthday, Craft Club!

2 sleeps until Patch Gravels starts his travels. I’m not sure who is more nervous, me or him. The Craft Club Juniors are so excited to be hosting him and have already been planning what they are going to do with him. 🥰

Craft Club Juniors ❤️❤️

Basic sewing skills is a prerequisite of Craft Club.

From day one I encourage friendship, helping each other and cheering each other, it was so lovely to see that already happening.they were so sweet and lovely with each other.

The Basic Skills project is deliberately small but packs lots in, using scissors correctly, different needles and threads, sewing on a button, glue guns, ironing and the sewing machine.

Keeping it simple means I can teach them how to use everything safely before we move onto bigger projects.

They were VERY excited about using the iron… I’m not use to this level of excitement. Two of the girls used a sewing machine for the first time, which was so exciting 🩷

Basic Skills officially completed with a certificate and the all important lolly! 🍭

Paper mâché part 1

Quite possibly the messiest, loudest, most chaotic and funniest Craft Club Seniors session ever!

Collectively, I don’t think we have ever laughed so much. Actual tears. These girls are so quick and their humour has developed so much over the years.

The time flew by. Such a chilled, happy vibe amongst absolute carnage

This is exactly the sort of mess you are happy to pay to do somewhere else.

They worked solidly, but paper mâché takes time, so everything is now drying ready for part two.

They’ve all chosen completely different colour schemes, I cannot wait to see how they turn out 😍

Part two coming soon!

Here is Patch Gravels, all ready for his adventures in his new tote bag, complete with his passport, tucked up nice and cosy. I’m also going to make him a little bone to take with him.

I’m off on my own little travels so I’ll be taking a break from social media. When I’m back, it won’t be long before Patch starts his travels too, he’s raring to go.

For anyone who hasn’t met him yet, Patch Gravels is Craft Club Junior’s mascot. Each month, one of the children will take him home and include him in their family life and whatever they get up to. I can’t wait to see where he ends up and what adventures he has.

Another new is coming to Craftwoman Creations. I’ve created the ‘Golden Button’ for my children’s craft clubs.

These won’t be handed out at every workshop and will be handed out discreetly.

A Golden Button will be reserved for those stand out moments/workshops that make me think, “That was special.”

I’m keeping what earns one a secret for now, I’m not sure I even know 🤣, I want them to be awarded for things that happen naturally.

Who will become the very first child from Craft Club to receive a Golden Button? 💛

P.s I stabbed under my nail bed (OUCH) sewing this button on so will glue future ones 🤦🏽‍♀️
