Sometimes the brief pushes you outside your usual style… and that’s where the magic happens✨
This pelmet and Roman blind were designed to echo the shape within our customer’s beautiful Victorian wallpaper — not something we would typically choose, but absolutely the right decision for this space. Paired with a classic roll top bath and full of character, it feels perfectly at home.
A reminder that great design isn’t always about following your own rules — it’s about listening, adapting, and creating something that truly belongs in the room💙

This Mother’s Day feels a little extra special for us. 🌸
Behind Nicky Hayes Interiors are two mums — Nicky and Amanda — balancing family life and a shared passion for creating beautiful homes.
Being mothers shapes how we see the spaces we design. We understand that a home isn’t just about how it looks, but how it’s lived in — the family moments, the everyday rhythm, and the memories made along the way.
We also feel incredibly lucky to still have our own mothers in our lives — women who inspired our creativity, our work ethic, and so much of who we are today.
From Amanda with her young twins in photos 1 and 2, to Nicky with her sons in photos 3 and 4, these are such precious snapshots in time — and it really does feel like only yesterday.
Today we’re celebrating all the wonderful mums and mother figures who make a house feel like home.

Feeling incredibly inspired after attending this year’s London Design Week. It was a fantastic day filled with creativity, fresh perspectives, and beautiful design.
One of the highlights was an inspiring talk from the wonderful Kit Kemp, whose approach to colour, texture, and storytelling in interiors is always so refreshing. We also spent time exploring the latest fabric collections, discovering stunning new textures, patterns, and palettes from some incredibly talented designers and fabric houses.✨

Events like this are such a great opportunity to step away from the day-to-day, connect with others in the industry, and immerse ourselves in new ideas. We’ve come away feeling energised and full of inspiration, with plenty of exciting concepts that we’re looking forward to bringing into upcoming projects for our clients—and perhaps a few ideas for ourselves too💖

‘Such a treat to finally meet the brilliant during her talk with Ann Grafton at London Design Week✨While some say “less is more”, I’ll always be in the more is more category — more colour, more pattern, more fabric, more joy. Kit Kemp has been such a huge inspiration to me over the years. From statement headboards to richly layered spaces, her work has encouraged so many of us to be bolder and more expressive with our interiors. A real pleasure to meet her in person. Congratulations on the new book, Kit — and thank you for flying the flag for characterful interiors in a world of grey’. 💖
