Top tips on caring for flowers at home
1. Condition flowers before using them (unless you buy from us when they are already conditioned). This means taking off all leaves that will be below the water line, cutting each stem at an angle and leaving in plenty of fresh water (in a cool place) for 6 or more hours before use.
2. Clean your bowl or vase. The biggest issue with flower vase life is how clean the vase is! Make sure it has had a good scrub and clean water before you arrange the flowers.
3. Choose your placement carefully. While it might be tempting to show off an arrangement on a windowsill, summer heat and autumn drafts aren't very flower friendly. They don't want a cosy spot beside the fire or radiator! Flowers like to keep their cool.
4. Check water levels every couple of days and top up if needed.
5. If the flowers are looking a bit tired, you can often get another day or two by taking them out, snipping an inch off the stem and rearranging in the (clean) vase and fresh water.
Enjoy!
