A quirky little portrait using oil pastels this morning! 🎨

Honestly, so much fun to work with. There’s almost a sculptural quality to building up the layers with these Sennelier pastels. I experimented with a tracing sheet to smudge and smooth everything out, which created some great blending and texture.

I wanted to exaggerate the features a little, although it’s harder than it looks! Still, I’m enjoying the end result.

Now I’m thinking funky flowers in this style could be the next little experiment… What do you think? Should I give it a go?

Always good to step outside the usual and see what happens. ✌🏼

Tadaaa! 🐸🧙🏼 The frog wizard is ready to continue their quest…just in time for Halloween! 🎃

Coffee first, then back to the chaos…finding that perfect little nibble of charcoal to bring the drawing to life. Some lovely contrast in this one, although there’s always room to improve. But sometimes you’ve got to know when to stop and call it a day.

I’ve got some professional quality paper lined up for a future piece, so plenty more to come 🤓

I’ve really enjoyed this theme…maybe fairytale stuff is my jam after all! 🐸✨

Honestly, I’m having a great time with this one. A perfect balance of challenge and fun…the good, the bad, and everything in between!

Hope you’re enjoying this one as much as I am. Back tomorrow with the finished piece…✌🏼

Lovely little portrait study this morning! ✌🏼

A few ups and downs getting the structure of the face right, with some fine tweaking along the way… but we got there in the end with a decent likeness.

Fantastic contrast from light to dark in this one too. It’s all about breaking things down, trusting the process and seeing where it takes you.

A drawing a day keeps me grounded.

Sometimes life gets a little heavy, and the mind just doesn’t know when to switch off. For me, drawing is more than just making art… it’s a necessity. A little escape from the noise, where everything else fades away and I can focus on one thing at a time.

A bit of light, a bit of dark… and a moment of peace in between.

Willow charcoal and a rubber…nothing that comes to a sharp point like a pencil, so getting those finer details is a challenge. It’s all about working with what you’ve got and finding ways to capture the light, tones and likeness without overworking it.

An hour of drawing, a few challenges, but a decent resemblance and some lovely light coming through. Happy with this one ✌🏼

Light and dark…keeping it simple, but always learning.
