Well this was a lovely surprise yesterday in my inbox.

Needcraft sent out an email to all of its customers about how to make soft tailored lampshades and there was a video of my shade at the top of it!

Dannells is THE go to for lampshade supplies and knowledge. The amount of people who would have seen this email just blows my mind. A real pinch me moment!

Busy making a little gathered pleat lampshade today. Always fiddly getting the needle to get through the gathers of fabric and the binding tape. Don’t even start me on the constant detangling of thread from around the millions of pins……

Thinking of how I’m going to trim the shade at the end. What do you think navy or yellow?

Well this was a lovely surprise!

The mother of a dear old friend of mine from school, gifted me this book from her collection. It was printed in the 1950s and cost 2 and 6 pence. It is part of a collection of books from my favourite book shop on Charing Cross Road: Foyles!

It's very wordy with few illustrations but interesting what they said about making lampshades in the 1950s. A completely different world from You Tube videos today!

Lots of new (to me) frames to work on. Can't wait to play with pattern and colour and give them a new lease of life!
