Well, it appears autumn has taken us at our word… 🍂🌸

A few weeks ago we admitted that we were quite looking forward to autumn.

And now look what’s arrived.

Dahlias in all the good colours, berries, grasses, branches, beautiful foliage and those rich, slightly moodier shades that make this time of year SO good for flowers.

We may not be quite ready for dark evenings and putting the heating on, but this bit of autumn? Absolutely. 😍

Pop in and have a look. The shop is looking rather lovely at the moment.

Well... we've got just the thing. 🌸

Our six-afternoon Introduction to Floristry course starts on Saturday 12 September, and it's for anyone who'd like to go a little further than one of our workshops.

Over six relaxed, hands-on afternoons, we'll cover flower care, the principles of floral design and sustainable floristry techniques, before getting stuck into hand-tied bouquets, traditional arrangements, farewell flowers and basic wedding designs.

And you'll take home each of the designs you create.

You don't need any previous experience. Complete beginners are very welcome, as are those wanting to refresh or develop their existing skills.

🌿 Six afternoons
🌿 11.30am–2.30pm
🌿 Starts Saturday 12 September
🌿 All flowers and materials included

Fancy getting properly stuck in? 🌸

'Oh, I couldn't do that.'

OK - honestly, I hear this ALL the time.

BUT I promise you: you totally can!

You don't need to know your dahlias from your delphiniums, and there's absolutely no expectation that you arrive knowing what you're doing.

Well.... that's rather the point, isn't it!

I'll teach you, help you and probably gently persuade you to stop fiddling with it when it was perfect ten minutes ago (standard!). 😂🌸

Our late summer and autumn workshops are now booking.

And beginners very definitely welcome.

Two hours when nobody needs anything from you. Tempted?

No emails. No washing. No one asking what’s for dinner.

Just flowers, a bit of creativity and some time to yourself.

Our autumn floristry workshops are designed for complete beginners as well as those who've been before. Come on your own or bring someone with you – we'll provide everything you need and show you exactly what to do.

And yes, you get to take your creation home afterwards. 🌿

That’s an evening well spent, surely?

Controversial opinion...

We’re quite looking forward to autumn. 🍂

There. We said it.

(Though if you’re absolutely LOVING summer, perhaps skip that part...)

Either way, there’s something rather lovely about having something in the diary to look forward to.

Cooler days, autumn flowers, wreath making and an excuse to disappear for a couple of hours and make something beautiful? We're ready.

Our late summer and autumn workshops are now open for booking, with everything from seasonal meadow boxes and vase arrangements to autumn wreaths – plus our six-week Introduction to Floristry course.

Come on your own, bring a friend, learn something new and leave with something beautiful you’ve made yourself. 🌸

Places are limited, so have a look and get something lovely in the diary.

☀️ Time for a little summer recharge!

Our shop will be taking a short summer break from 27th July, reopening on 11th August.

If you need us for funeral flowers or an event while we're away, please do email us on [email protected]. We'll still be checking our inbox and will be delighted to help.

Thank you so much for your continued support. We hope you have a wonderful summer too. 🌸💛

I've been meaning to write about funeral flowers for a while.

But if I'm honest, it's never an easy post to begin.

Because funeral flowers aren't really about flowers.

They're about love, memory, gratitude, saying goodbye, and trying to honour someone whose absence feels simply impossible to put into words.

When someone contacts me about funeral flowers, I always invite them into the shop for a private consultation.

There's no rush.

Sometimes people want to tell me all about the person they've lost. Sometimes they'd rather focus on choosing the flowers. Both are completely okay.

For some families, a traditional arrangement feels exactly right, perhaps with a few personal touches. Others want something entirely bespoke, inspired by favourite colours, hobbies, places or passions. It's also not uncommon for us to create something three-dimensional that tells part of their story.

Some families even choose to come back and help place the final flowers themselves. It can be an incredibly emotional experience, but also a comforting and meaningful way to say goodbye.

There is no right way to do this.

My hope is simply that, in the middle of everything else that comes with losing someone, choosing the flowers feels calm, unhurried and one less thing to worry about.

If you ever find yourself in that position, please know you'll be met with kindness, time and a listening ear.

With love,

Elinor x

🥂 We’ve been giving our wedding page a little refresh to make it even more helpful for couples planning their big day, including price guides and DIY options.

🚗 We’ve also added a new page on elopements and intimate celebrations, with packages for those smaller and just as special occasions.

🌸 One final story from last weekend’s wedding…

A huge thank you to A & S, who generously donated their wedding flowers to local care homes after the celebrations had finished.

It’s always a shame to see beautiful flowers enjoyed for just one day, so we loved seeing these arrangements heading off to bring a little colour and joy to residents instead.

Such a thoughtful gesture and a wonderful way for the flowers to continue being enjoyed long after the last dance. 💛
