Had a fun time yesterday meeting the students from and presenting this award on behalf of

The winner was a wonderful scale model based on Fallout, with an honourable mention to the excellent museum style Cornish folklore models.

I’m sorry I don’t have Instagram account for either student, if someone sends them my way I’ll add them to the post! Well done to all the students and best of luck starting out in the industry!

80s kids get it. Multiple coats of release wax now applied to the shoulder armour. I was actually planning on using a semi permanent chemical release from but when double checking the data sheets, discovered they say it has a 12 month shelf life once opened. And I didn’t feel like risking that.

I’m making a new mould for the chest armour, but it’s going to be a hard fibreglass mould rather than silicone, so I’ve spent hours sanding the master (or plug) up to 1200 grit, and have finally started hitting it with polish before I apply mould release.

Well done everyone who ventured an answer to the challenge yesterday! Here’s the answers and how to spot them. Left was Rogue One, the dome sits slightly higher, allowing you to see the eyebrows. Right was A New Hope, with the dome sitting lower and the widows peak slightly covering the first notch between the eyes.

If you zoomed in with really sharp eyes you’d also see the grooves in the tubes on either side of the cheek on the Rogue One helmet.

Without the paint to help you, which is Rogue One, and which is A New Hope?Answers below!
