Thought I’d pop it up properly since it was one of my most viewed stories. Lara and I made a flag/banner/ appliqué thing out of a ton of fabric samples and scraps. Stitched onto a bit of old painter’s cloth I didn’t want to chuck. Left overs from lovely projects. Lots from HAINES ! All after being inspired by a lovely vintage book from Barter Books UK in Alnwick. I’m also in a real ‘boats’ era, if I can say such a ridiculous thing. Have bought models and drawn pictures and put them on pots and now made this great big thing. Maybe it’s the escapism?? Key notes from project: I’m crap at the sewing machine but we both liked all the cutting out. The words are from the bard. Next up I want to do a wandering bark. 💚

Still suffering from being all over the place. Got the fear of starting something in case it fails. So doing silly half term things instead. Little boys wanted shields to go with their swords. I don’t love the swords but we’ve learnt a fair amount about Arthur and the round table. And I keep blabbering about being defenders etc 🙄. Alnwick castle really was magic. Love the farrow and ball blue and yellow on the shields too. And at least I’ve cleared some recycling by making them. And flower content will be returning soon- there really is something in the making that I hope I’ll have ready to share in the next couple of weeks!

Pottery with Helen Muir at Dukes Fine Art Gallery, Studios & Workshops is my favourite time of the week. She taught us this very cool technique for printing a design using underglazes and slip. Love how it’s looks a bit aged, can’t wait to see how it comes out of the kiln! And thanks mum for the beautiful photo of me 😂😂 I rushed the hand built pot and now wish I’d done it with a bit more thought.

🎄✨ The Sleighbell Ball is back! ✨🎄

We are delighted to be hosting our annual Sleighbell Ball for the children of P1 & P2 at the Marine Hotel in North Berwick on Sunday 29th November, raising funds for the much-loved Edinburgh Children’s Hospital Charity (ECHC).
The event has been running for over 40 years and, after a break during Covid, we were thrilled to bring it back. Last year was a huge success and, thanks to the incredible generosity of our supporters, we raised an amazing £16,900+ for ECHC.
This year, we are hoping to match that total — or even beat it! — and we are getting in touch with local businesses and kind individuals who may be able to help us.
We are currently looking for donations for our raffle or silent auction. This could be a voucher, experience, product, service or anything else you feel you may be able to offer. Every donation, big or small, will help us raise even more for this wonderful charity.
We also have sponsorship opportunities available, which would be incredibly gratefully received. Sponsorship helps us cover some of the costs involved in putting the event on, including the children’s entertainer and the printing of invitations and other event materials. This means that as much of the money raised through the event as possible can go directly to ECHC.
We would be delighted to recognise and thank our sponsors and donors as part of our event publicity.
If you are able to help, either through a donation or sponsorship, or would simply like to find out a little more, please do get in touch.
Thank you so much for considering supporting us. Your generosity will help make a real difference to the children and families supported by Edinburgh Children’s Hospital Charity.

With very best wishes,

Sleighbell Ball Committee

What a lot of worst trash. It should just say ‘brb, working on something proper’ 💚 not all this guff. But just in case someone else feels like this or has some good advice for me. Modest reinvention coming soon?? Back to school has me reflecting and it’s weird looking through all these pictures of things I never fully explored.

Event details for the event where I let that delft painted chest get away… please come and say hi! It’s crammed full of treasure and I’ve not done one of these in ages so I feel really nervous. 4th September – 6th September, 2026
Antiques & Decorative Fair

As the leaves begin to turn, the September Antiques Fair at Paxton House offers a captivating autumn experience for antiques lovers. Set in the scenic grounds of this historic Palladian house, the fair brings together up to 80 dealers who specialise in a wide array of antiques, including architectural pieces, fine furniture, and unique collectibles. I’m excited to be sharing with amazing Fiona Dean and Katy Eccles - Botanical Casting Artist. Our space has clothes, art, vintage and antique prints, jewellery, taxidermy, plaster casts, pots and PLANTS IN POTS (paper and brass). For the record, I do cringe at myself.

Big weekend at the Gifford Horticultural Society’s 178th flower show. It’s the best. I used to enter things when I was young so it’s fun to be back again. We are so thankful to all the people who put in so much work to get the show up and running. I’ve always kept myself in the kids section- too scared of the produce/ handicrafts/ gardening section but maybe I’ll have a go next year. There was so much knowledge and skill and community in the tent I was quite overwhelmed- but also I had a raging hangover after trying to have a night out in the fringe and that always makes me a bit emotional. Eddie also won his first prize- look at the joy on his face! Thank you K A T I E _ for my new favourite picture 💚📸

Eddie’s decorated biscuit. ‘Monster truck shark’. A masterpiece.

Scooping up far too many prizes 😂

Lara holding her miniature garden which was a long time in the making! I’m hoping for an adult miniature class next year??

And his outfit 💚💙 loves football and Scotland the most.

Mum examining the wildly impressive leeks! So many talented growers.

Perfect. Big carrots.

The roof was made from the inside of pine cones which was Edward’s idea!

Probably the only trophy I won when I was young? Have always loved miniature things. I have dreams of a model village at home 😂

How so straight?

Beautiful tent 💚
