Tis the season for migratory thrushes to return to the UK! Redwings and fieldfares are being spotted already, so I thought I'd share my Birdus Turdus guide. Listen out for the fanfares played by the fieldfares on their tiny trumpets, and keep an eye for the graffiti that the paint-armed redwing likes to doodle...

I completely forgot to post this when I finished it! More pigeon content - I had pigeons on the brain because I was stuck in hospital and all I could see were pigeons out the window...

The wood pigeon might end up being friends with the gooSANDER to smooth out any rough edges.

Pigeoff has had a few too many on this fine morning!

Another handy bird guide that absolutely no one asked for!

So it turns out the shelduck has nothing to do with shells - sheld was once used to mean 'variegated'. However, if you add the extra L, it becomes a beachcombers paradise.

Turns out there are way more than 50 shades of greylag, and lots of them aren't even grey...

I don't usually draw directly over photos (it is a photo I took though so no copyright issues) but I wanted to capture the true range of colours showing up in a picture of a greylag goose so I used the colour pick tool to make the most of the different shades.

Anyway, honk.

Saw some upper and lower case geese in the wild today, albeit greylag rather than the Canada shown on the tee.

If you love geese, I have the t-shirts for you! My Teemill is a mine of bad bird jokes, so go wild!

Pole fitness is a great workout anyway, but tadpoles love it for the added pun potential.

Yeah I'm not sure what is going on with my brain either...

At this time of year there are lots of geese and goslings around, so here is a handy guide for the honk intensities. Any geese still fluffy and a bit yellow have a lower-case honk, whereas the adults generally honk in all caps.

The more you know!

A criminal Corvid today - the crook! Like a rook, it has the pale beak and glossy feathers, but the crook adds a super-subtle disguise and a swag bag.

Swipe for a timelapse and some pictures I took of rooks...
