Enjoy yourself. It’s later than you think

That line hits a bit harder the older you get

We spend so much of our lives working. Chasing the next job, the next deadline, the next invoice, the next problem that needs sorted. Then there’s family life, bills, responsibilities and the hundred other things that seem to fill every spare minute.

Before you know it, another week’s gone. Then another month. Then somehow another year.

I’m as guilty of it as anyone. It’s very easy to convince yourself that you’re too busy and that you’ll do the things you enjoy when things quieten down.

But when does life ever really quieten down?

There will always be another job to do. Another email to answer. Another problem waiting on Monday morning.

There won’t always be another summer. Another fishing trip. Another weekend away. Another night out with your mates. Another chance to spend time with the people who matter to you.

Work is important. Providing for your family is important. Building something you’re proud of is important.

But work isn’t the be all and end all of life.

Sometimes you need to put the phone down, shut the laptop, leave the tools where they are and go and do something simply because you enjoy doing it.

Whatever your thing is, make time for it.

Because life doesn’t slow down while you’re busy making plans for later.

And the scary thing is, the older you get, the faster it seems to go.

Enjoy yourself.

All three mean a lot, but I’ll be honest, Scotland’s Most Trusted Home Improvement Company is the one I’m particularly proud of

For a small family business like ours, trust is everything

People are inviting us into their homes, spending their hard earned money with us and trusting myself and the team to do exactly what we said we would do. To even be in the running for an award like this is massive for us.

I think it’s also a really good reflection of how our customers see Calibur as a business. Not just the finished windows, doors or extensions, but how we communicate, how we treat people’s homes, the advice we give and how we conduct ourselves from the first conversation right through to finishing the job.

We’ve never tried to be the biggest company out there. We’d much rather be known as one of the businesses people can genuinely trust to do things properly.
