Im looking currently at a lot of jobs coming in with windows swelling in this heat , our job is to get these windows working as they should and when winter comes in they are tight in situ and no draughts or water ingress .Upvc windows are a thermal material and as such they expand and contract , with a wee 2 yearly service you enhance the lifespan and aesthetic look of windows

Looking at all of the current trends within the glazing industry its becoming more and more apparent the skill set I was taught is being " phased out " , we embarked on a traditional sash and case job last May in Edinburgh using a " heritage putty .This product gets applied using a skeleton gun and finished with a putty knife to create the seal on to frame and glass , there is quite a bit of wasteage but the finish to be achieved gives a long lasting seal on puttycheck and a longer guarantee if applied correctly .The guys at Hodgson were brilliant with technical support and with our back and forth we were able to speed up the application process , the more modern glaziers found it hard to adapt speed wise and achieve the same finish as myself which has lead me to start to structure a training module for guys who are working with us now .I will try and load a video up to show the process but please bear with this dinosaur of anything IT.

Just read in a local magazine tonight about a company who has apparently come up with a cheaper way to solve misted windows ,,,oh dear a wee bit misleading pal it wasn’t you or your company but it’s the guidelines from suppliers and Glass and Glazing Federation ,have to be careful what you try and take credit for

Winter on its way ,went to a house the other day ,fuel bills rocketing but windows letting wind and water in ,sashes now not retaining water and draining as they should hey presto a wee bit of TLC and windows now tighter and rooms warmer
