We are taking a break today, after our crazy weekend, and Simon, Merkstreet, will be running the shop. He has other commitments for about an hour this afternoon, so OUR HOURS TODAY WILL BE 11am - 2.30pm AND THEN 3.30pm - 5pm.

This is our third post in our Simon's picks series. Here's what he has to say about this piece:
"There is something inspiringly melancholic about a lot of Scottish natural scenery. I always find that Ailleagan Art's work with colour manages to capture that. I'm brought back to moments of getting out of a tent while camping in the Highlands. Groggy eyed and ready to make my first morning cuppa, but taking in the moody landscape as a reward for a stiff back. Or swimming in a Loch with friends - initially asking myself why on earth I thought this was a good idea, but then being enchanted by a certain groundedness in the water, the surrounding hills and the swaying of trees in the wind. Miriam plays with colours in a way that they melt into each other, which to me, is a bit what it feels like to be out in this wonderful country."

This weekend is the final weekend for the "Scotties in the City" trail. We've just heard from Dainty Dora Surface Pattern Design + Print about her Scottie at the People's Palace, near the Doulton Fountain. She's written all about creating her Tunnocks Teacake themed Scottie in her Substack. You'll find a link in the first comment.
