Day 2 inspirations.....meeting Jo Malone
Amongst many inspiring entrepreneurs I loved meeting Jo Malone and listening to her journey. Being creative myself I was in awe of the process to coming up with scents....not the bottling process, like me on a sewing machine. Rather the feeling and intuition of the story you are creating in the combination.....

WOW!!!what a honour to be a guest of Michelle De Almeida

MORE.......is less A new client who recently got her lounge decorated professionally got intouch as unfortunately the result was not what they expected. It transpired the decorator said paper was thin so shrinkage happened. Unfortunately the client lost faith as banding had also occurred. Straight away I said paper should have been hung tumble turvy. When papers aren't of quality not only are they probmatic to put up, they don't clearly state how paper is to be hung, from paste the wall to direction/match.
Client loves the new finished results but at a very costly exercise......

Since returning in January 26' I have been very aware of balancing shop hours so open but allowing time to see clients out with, without compromising quality and service.
Shop times:
Tuesday - Friday 11am -3pm
(Only change if out on project sites)
I have revived Saturdays for those busy lives 10am - 2pm

Designing this clients spaces the kitchen was clearly their Domain as required a commercial kitchen, but still having a homely feel. The colour pallette & softfurnishings I complimented around the clients wishes.
While the kitchen remains the bustling engine of the home, as kids move out the seperate diningroom is what went under a surprising transformation. No longer a stage just for formal holiday marathons and family get togethers.It has evolved into a quiet, intimate relaxing nook for two. By adding a sofa at the foot of the dining room, but still enough space to expand table & chairs when required......it really has become their most used space!

As the days get lighter & hopefully brighter! We see subtle changes in colour tones & textures.
Staying with earth tone pallettes warm creams to chocolates but in soft linens and textured weaves.large floral has become small patterns & motifs with linen background ,keeping moody earth tones in greens, navy, oranges & yellows
Boucle is still a staple in upholstery but classic stripes returning too mixed with darker woods ,gold & copper metals & surfaces remaining marble & wood.
Delicate voiles & linen window dressing compliment the layering of textures.
