Total Lighting & Controls won the contract to replace the existing lighting in The Nave and Sanctuary in St Augustine’s Church, Gloucester.

The Soledo 22 Watt LED downlight was proposed to replace the fluorescent downlights in The Nave. The ceiling height of nearly 8 metres provided a challenging installation by motorised access equipment from below and from above in the loft. Light levels were calculated by design to achieve an average illuminance of 244 lux. Two LED low bay luminaires were also installed to provide additional light above the Sanctuary.

The Azuma Midi 13 Watt LED spotlight replaced the existing halogen spotlights in the Sanctuary and LED battens replaced the fluorescents which illuminate Jesus Christ.

A life expectancy of 50,000 hours and a 5 year warranty on both the Soledo and Azuma provides a maintenance free solution, and a piece of mind to the customer. The additional benefits of low energy luminaires reducing electricity bills and improved light levels were the driving factors to Total Lighting & Controls winning the contract.

Dentist needs TLC
Portman Smile clinic in Camberley, Surrey invited Total Lighting & Controls to replace their aging halogen downlights situated in the reception area and corridor. Light levels were poor and failure rates were high, which meant expensive replacement bills.

The solution we offered was to replace the halogen downlights with the Soledo LED downlight and the Wallwasher LED. Light levels have been increased, which has improved the ambience of the areas, and a 60,000 hour expected lifetime, guaranteed for 5 years, has eliminated any failures and expensive replacement bills.

Grangefield Primary School in Bishop’s Cleeve Gloucestershire had new LED car park lighting installed in 2017. Three of the new lights, mounted on columns had failed and had not worked correctly for some time, so Total Lighting & Controls were asked to investigate the reason for the failure.
A cable joint was found to be faulty next to the first column so an excavation took place and the joint was replaced. A cable between the first and second column had also failed. Rather than dig up the car park to replace the broken cable a new cable was taken from a nearby wall light, which was on the same electrical circuit, and taken under a grass verge to connect the other two lights. All three lights then worked correctly.
The site manager was delighted that Total Lighting & Controls had rectified the problem after all the previous issues trying to get the lighting repaired with no success. The car park is now well lit and the health and safety is no longer a concern.

Dinglewell Infant School - Gloucester
Total Lighting & Controls have upgraded the fluorescent lighting to LED to save on energy, cut maintenance and improve light levels. The recommended luminaires were LED battens and bulkheads which provide instant bright white light with no flicker and have a long lifetime.
Staff immediately commented on how nice and bright the classrooms are compared to previously.

Coberley Primary School Lighting Upgrade
Total Lighting & Controls have recently upgraded the lighting to LED in one of the classrooms at Coberley Primary School in Gloucestershire.
The old fluorescent lighting was in desperate need of replacing due to failures and the constant humming was becoming a distraction to pupils. The solution was to replace the lighting with new 1200 x 600 LED panels which provide instant bright white light with no annoying flicker or humming. Long life will also provide a reduction in expensive maintenance costs.

School Lighting with Control
Total Lighting & Controls have recently upgraded the fluorescent lighting to LED at Carrant Brook Junior School in Tewkesbury.
The old fluorescent lighting was falling into disrepair in the hall and was in need of replacement, so the solution was to install recessed LED panels into the ceiling, and at the same time install movement sensors for control.
The benefits are improved light levels, lower energy costs with the reduced energy load of LED and the lighting controls turning lights off when the hall is unoccupied. With the longer life of the new lighting maintenance is now a thing of the past so the school now make additional savings on the annual budget.

Total Lighting & Controls have undertaken numerous lighting and power installations for Longlevens Church over many years.
The church wardens mentioned that they were considering having a new kitchen installed in the church hall. As Total Lighting have a network of local tradespeople undertaking work for us we suggested that we could put together a project and manage the installation for the church if it came within their budget.
The new kitchen has all new units, appliances, new flooring and has been redecorated. All the church wardens, the vicar and customers have commented on the improvements and how delighted they are with the finished kitchen.

Just Fabrics LED lighting installation
Just Fabrics approached Total Lighting & Controls asking for a design and supply price for their new purpose built showroom and warehouse facility in Cheltenham.
The recommendation was to install the Indi LED batten luminaire in both the showroom and the warehouse to provide a high level of illuminance. The Astral LED spotlight was recommended for the showroom windows not only to provide high quality illumination but also excellent colour reproduction.
The LED lighting supplied not only provides excellent levels of illuminance, but provides good colour reproduction which is necessary in fabric design and sales. Low running and maintenance costs are also a major benefit.

Total Lighting & Controls recently completed a lighting upgrade for Hatherop Primary School in the Cotswolds.

The recommendation was to replace the existing fluorescent lighting in a classroom and the hall. The lighting was proving to be unreliable and inefficient and was therefore replaced with new LED battens for reliability and efficiency. At the same time as the installation in the hall the lighting circuits were rewired and new emergency lighting was installed.

Light levels in both areas has been dramatically improved and energy savings in excess of 70% can be expected.

Total Lighting & Controls recently won a contract to upgrade the lighting at the Holy Ascension Church in Hyde, Hampshire.
The existing halogen lighting was failing and therefore light levels were very low at 100 lux or below, plus a mounting height of 4.5 metres made the lights very difficult to access and maintain. Each light had a 100 Watt electrical output and were also extremely inefficient.
The energy efficient solution that we recommended was to upgrade the lighting with the 32 Watt Manta LED spotlight to provide 78% savings on the electricity bill. Light levels are now 300 lux which is a vast improvement, and an expected lifetime of 70,000 hours and a 5 year warranty provides zero maintenance.

Gloucestershire County Council recently instructed Total Lighting & Controls to upgrade the existing lighting on the first floor at Cirencester Library to LED.
The installation included our Linear LED suspended continuous modular system in the main area, and the circular suspended pendant in the lounge. A modification was undertaken to the recessed wall wash lighting by installing LED battens within the body of the fitting. This provided excellent light levels to the walls. The overall lighting in the area achieves 500 lux which is a huge improvement on the previous light levels.
