DESIGN TEAM SPOTLIGHT – LYNN LEWIS

Sometimes keeping it simple makes the biggest impact!

Lynn Lewis has created this brilliant monochrome birthday card from the Birthday Collection, and the crisp black-and-white combination works perfectly with the fun tech theme.

The Happy Birthday Tech Stamp is the star of the design, packed with gaming-inspired details including controllers, headphones, handheld devices and plenty of stars. Lynn stamped the design with a VersaMark Pad onto Raven Black Card before heat embossing with White Embossing Powder, creating that wonderfully sharp contrast.

A Postage and Dash DL Die gives the black panel its decorative edge, with Polar White Card providing the perfect clean frame. A great reminder that you don’t always need lots of colour or complicated techniques to create a really striking card.

Lynn’s top tip when heat embossing onto dark card: use an antistatic pad first to help keep that white embossing clean and crisp.
Finished card size: 8¾" x 4¾"

Who would you make this gaming-inspired birthday card for?

DESIGN TEAM SPOTLIGHT – WENDY WALTERS

We’re shining a light on Wendy Walters and some fabulously festive inspiration!
Christmas crafting is well underway for Wendy with this fun design featuring Jamie Rodgers’ Christmas Elves Collection – and it’s definitely getting us in the mood for festive making.

Wendy has teamed the adorable elf and reindeer from the Jingle All The Way Stamp & Die Set with Sue Wilson’s Snowflake Floating Frame Die, creating that fabulous oversized snowflake background in crisp Polar White against Ice Blue Foundations Card.

The stamped characters have been coloured with Watercolour Pencils, while touches of Diamond White Glitter bring a little snowy sparkle to the scene. We especially love the North Pole-style signpost pointing towards the Toy Workshop, Elf Village and Reindeer – such a fun detail!

Finished with the playful “Merry Christmas from the whole gang” sentiment, this is a brilliant example of how different festive collections can work together to create a completely new design.

Have you started making your Christmas cards yet, or are you firmly in the “it’s far too early” camp?

DESIGN TEAM SPOTLIGHT – SIOBHAN FYFFE

Bob from Gwen’s Christmas Collection is clearly having the time of his life, and Siobhan Fyffe has given him the perfect magical winter backdrop.

For that gorgeous starry sky, Siobhan stamped the Starry Background and heat embossed it in white before creating a beautiful mix of blue and purple Distress Oxide Inks. Rather than simply blending the colours, she pressed the inks onto a blending mat, spritzed them with White Pearl Mica Spray, then repeatedly dipped and dried the background to gradually build up all that colour, texture and shimmer.

Once dry, a quick wipe over the embossed stars with kitchen towel removes any lingering ink and brings the crisp white detail shining back through. Such a lovely resist technique, and the pearly finish makes the whole background feel wonderfully frosty.

Then there’s Bob, skating along and singing without a care in the world – Christmas joy captured in a card!

Are you more like Bob at Christmas – singing your way through the festivities – or do you prefer a little peace and quiet?

Alongside Gwen Fletcher's beautiful new Frostmere Village stamps are four gorgeous Craft Die Sets, each with its own lovely botanical frame and extra decorative details.

They're perfect for framing those snowy village scenes, but I can see these being used for all sorts of projects throughout the year too.

Hi everyone,

Today I’m sharing a lovely festive card featuring a cosy little cottage, some beautiful stencilled texture and a touch of Christmas sparkle!

I love how a few simple layers and a little bit of texture can create such a pretty card, and this design is a lovely way to combine some of Jamie Rodgers Crafts’ dies with one of Gwen’s Christmas stencils.

I started by cutting a layer of Ivory Pearl cardstock using the JRC Scallop Layering Dies. I then cut a square from Stone Foundations cardstock, ready to create my textured background.

For this, I used Gwen’s Spangles Stencil from her previous Christmas Collection, along with Opalian Texture Paste. I spread the paste through the stencil onto the Stone cardstock, carefully removed the stencil and left the panel to dry completely.

While the background was drying, I cut a white square using the Snowflake and Holly Square Die Set. I then stamped a cottage onto the square and coloured it using alcohol markers, bringing the little winter scene to life.

Once everything was dry, I began assembling my card, using foam tape between the layers to add some lovely dimension. The textured background works beautifully with the scalloped edging and helps frame the cottage.

To add a little festive sparkle, I applied some glitter along the edges of the cottage roof to give the appearance of frost or freshly fallen snow. I also added little dots of snow using a white acrylic marker, which really helped create that wintry feel.

For the finishing touch, I stamped a sentiment onto white cardstock, cut it out and added a pearl at each end for a pretty finishing detail.

And that’s my Christmas cottage card complete!

I love the combination of the soft pearl cardstock, delicate texture paste and little touches of sparkle. It creates a lovely traditional Christmas feel without needing lots of embellishments.

Do you enjoy adding texture to your Christmas cards? I’d love to know whether you prefer texture pastes, embossing folders or a little bit of both

DESIGN TEAM SPOTLIGHT – DIANE WILLIAMS

We’re shining the light on Diane Williams and this fabulous scrapbook page created using Sue Wilson’s Autumn Collection. There’s so much to discover in this one!
Diane has brought together a whole woodland gathering, including Olivia the Owl, Flora the Fox, Millie the Mouse, Sidney the Squirrel, Hazel the Hedgehog and Bailey the Bunny, surrounded by mushrooms, ferns and foliage from Forest Floor and Autumn Harvest.

The warm autumnal palette works beautifully, with Marigold, Lime and Pumpkin Foundation Card teamed with papers from the Woodware Fallen Leaves Paper Pad.

We especially love the three colourful photo spaces nestled right into the scene, ready to turn this into a page full of favourite autumn memories.

And you don’t have to be a scrapbooker to take inspiration from this! Add some treasured family photos, pop the finished 12" x 12" design into a box frame and you’ve got a wonderfully personal piece of home décor – or an extra-special handmade Christmas gift for grandparents and family.

Would you turn this into a scrapbook page, or frame it with some favourite family photos?

And with beautiful foliage, sentiments and coordinating Craft Dies, there are so many ways to make each project your own.
