Why I’m Stepping Back to Refuel
For me, Clobbr (a play on clobber, meaning clothing) is about taking existing garments and adding to their beauty so they live longer.
I’m deeply drawn to denim—its shades, its durability, and how it frays with its own story. Whether I’m losing myself in the rhythm of hand stitching or using free-motion machine embroidery to “draw” with the needle, my style of slow, freestyle stitching roots me to the garment’s journey. It’s a process filled with love, joy, and intentionality to create something truly unique.
But to pour love and intention into my work, I have to protect my own well-being. You cannot pour from an empty cup.
Right now, my body and brain need to refuel. Mental health is a daily practice of listening to our limits, so I’m taking some time off to focus on mindfulness.
Over the next few weeks, I’ll be grounding myself with T’ai Chi, slow walks, family and friends time, and stitching purely for the joy of it.
Just like a favourite piece of denim, we all need a little care and mending to last for the long haul. Take care of yourselves, and I’ll see you all soon! 💙
