A satisfying time-lapse of me T-barring the protective finish over this freshly white-stained oak floor.

The application may look quick on camera, but maintaining an even coat and a consistent wet edge takes plenty of care. The white stain has softened the warmer tones beautifully while allowing the oak’s natural grain and character to remain visible.

One minute I’m living the dream at an all-inclusive… unlimited food, cold drinks, no cooking, no washing up. 🍹☀️

Fast forward a few days and I’m back in Essex, sat in the back of the van microwaving my meal prep like some sort of tradesman Gordon Ramsay. 😂

From orange and shiny ➡️ natural, light and fresh 🌿

We’ve been in Billericay, Essex, sanding and refinishing these solid wooden kitchen worktops, removing the old tired finish and bringing the natural beauty of the timber back to life.

We finished them with Osmo oil, giving the wood a much more natural appearance while still providing the protection a hardworking kitchen worktop needs.

It’s all in the detail 👌

On this pine floor in Ingatestone, we filled the gaps using a flexible mastic rather than a hard, brittle filler.

Pine is a softwood and naturally moves throughout the year as temperature and humidity change. That seasonal movement can cause rigid fillers to crack or break away over time.

Using a flexible mastic gives the floor a more durable finish because it can move with the timber, helping the gaps stay looking neat for longer.

A small detail, but one that makes a big difference to the finished floor.
