A bit of a colour refresh for our youngest boy. A few months ago, we were lying in his bed when he looked around and said “I’m sick of looking at white. I lie in bed and look at white, I go in the lounge and look at white, I go in the kitchen and look at white. It’s so boring…” Not a fan of the old neutrals 😳 So we colour drenched the whole room in green. Not a bit of white in sight. He seems much happier now.

Gosh, is that the sun I see? Could hardly believe my eyes when I woke up this morning. And an excellent day for it…currently on my way to York for my long awaited trip to see Steps the Musical…very excited!

Finishing the week with some pictures of the nearly finished lounge at my Haworth project that I managed to take before the clients moved house!
We painted the walls in a dark, dramatic teal for a cosy, enveloping feel.
The floorboards were sanded and stained in a light oak colour to contrast with the walls.
We mixed mid-century and contemporary styles for an eclectic feel (I LOVE the Vitra Noguchi coffee table!)

The bedroom at my Haworth Victorian semi project was looking a bit tired so we brought it to life with colour and texture.
We painted the walls and woodwork in Knoxville Gray by Benjamin Moore UK - I love this colour because it's the perfect mix of blue and green so doesn't feel cold.
The client is a bit of an art connoisseur and he sourced this lovely piece - it's by Jim Moir Art . I LOVE how the colours pop against the blue wall - just what this room needed.
We added lots of lighting sources for cosiness.
The original floorboards were restored and we added three rugs for softness. We also replaced the radiator with an old cast iron one and had the door stripped and waxed.
Bespoke wardrobes and shelving were built into the alcoves and painted the same colour as the walls for a seamless feel.

This room feels so different now - full of character and personality! What do you think?

I really need to start showing more of what I get up to so here's a lovely hallway at a Victorian semi in Haworth that I completed quite a while ago.
The clients had lived here for years but what with life and kids, they hadn't had time to think about house stuff. The hallway was feeling very dated and needed an injection of personality. Luckily though, it did have lots of lovely features like the ceiling mouldings, stair spindles and original internal doors. We wanted to celebrate the original features, without feeling like we were stepping back into the Victorian times.
We tiled the floor in beautiful Victorian style tiles. I highly recommend Jonathan Powell- Specialist Wall and Floor Tiler - he did an amazing job (these types of tile are quite fiddly to fit!) I chose Pleat by The Little Greene Paint Company for the walls below the dado rail, and Linen Wash above to lighten the space up, and we highlighted the woodwork on the landing in Basalt.
We had the original pine doors restored by Falcon Pine Kitchens & Interior Joinery/Furniture. who also fitted original handles. The glass in the porch door was replaced with stained glass which we had bespoke-made by Light Leaded Designs Jan based the design on a piece of stained glass that the client still had from the original front door (if you don't follow Jan on here, you really need to - I could spend hours watching his stained glass making videos - so talented!!). This has added so much character to the hallway.
An industrial style drawer unit adds much needed storage for things like hats and scarves, and we added a hat rack above. There's additional coat and shoe storage in the porch area.
We replaced the radiators with vintage cast iron ones sourced from Vintage Cast Iron Radiators Ltd - my favourite traditional radiator supplier!
We added a large window mirror to bounce light around, and a big gallery wall made up of family photos and the clients' existing art prints (there were many lovely ones to choose from!) for a contemporary feel.
We also resdesigned the master bedroom and living room (which I'll show you soon)....

Then, a few months later, the clients upped sticks and moved to Ilkley 🤣

This year’s hallway tree is a bit shorter than usual…he didn’t look quite so squashed at but I’ve given him a bit of a trim and I’ve grown to love him. Unfortunately there were no Fraser Firs left so this is a Nordman…sadly no Christmassy smell but also no needles dropping. Have a good weekend!

A busy week this week finalising three room designs before the Christmas break!
I finally got round to buying some colourful pickwick lights for the lounge tree this year. I’ve always found them really nostalgic - I think because I remember them in my gran’s house in the ‘80s ❤️ Just about to start watching Love Actually while wrapping presents - a little Christmas tradition 🎄

Very sad that my clients are leaving this beautiful house for pastures new in Surrey - still one of the prettiest houses I’ve ever seen and such a lovely project to work on. Looking forward to helping them remotely with designing their new home!

From dated and dull to bright and uplifting. Some before and afters of an affordable refresh at a caravan in Lancaster where the brief was to create a cosy and contemporary look with a relaxed feel - a home away from home. I don't normally do in-person consultations as far afield as this but as it was for an existing client and I went to Lancaster uni, I jumped at the chance to relive my student years with a night away (even stopped off for a drink on campus 🍹). The clients have done a great job of implementing the designs themselves!
