Two halves of the same whole… that’s definitely us! 😂
We’re Sue & Carol, twin sisters and the team behind It’s a Twin Thing Workshops & Events.
We work together on everything we do, but like most partnerships, we each have different strengths and naturally take on different roles behind the scenes.
Carol is our tester, researcher and ideas person! She creates samples to see whether a craft will actually work well in a workshop, researches new ideas and what’s currently trending, and spends lots of time sourcing the right materials and supplies. She’s also great at looking at an idea and working out how we could adapt it for the different groups we work with.
The number of short videos and craft ideas whizzing backwards and forwards between us is ridiculous! 😂 “Maybe we could do this…” “Look at this!” “We could do this!”. One idea leads to another, then another... Carol has even imposed a 9pm curfew on sending them. Sue rarely sticks to it! 🤭
Sue tends to take the lead on the organisational side — dealing with enquiries and bookings, funding applications, planning, paperwork and promoting what we do.
And when workshop day arrives, we’re both there together — teaching, demonstrating, helping, encouraging and, of course, chatting! We love creating a relaxed atmosphere where nobody feels under pressure and everyone can work at their own pace.
Behind every workshop there’s much more going on than the couple of hours you see on the day — researching, experimenting, making samples, sourcing, planning and preparing.
We might have different roles behind the scenes, but that’s what makes us work. We each bring different strengths, bounce ideas off each other and turn the best ones into workshops together.
So, as twin sisters who seem to do almost everything together, we reckon our name really does fit — It’s a Twin Thing! 😂🩷🩷
