Some interior design opinions I’ll never change my mind on ✨

A beautiful home should work for the people living in it.
Layout matters more than trends. Lighting should never be an afterthought. Storage is essential. And timeless pieces will always outlast fast interiors.

I’ll also always believe that homes feel better when they tell a story, whether that’s through antiques, inherited pieces, or designing sympathetically to a home’s history.

Good design isn’t about perfection. It’s about creating spaces that feel personal, practical and deeply lived in.

Which one do you agree with most?

A few recent interiors where different shades of green brought warmth, depth and character into the home.

If this is your kind of space, you’re in the right place.
Natural materials, soft tones, considered details and homes that feel warm, calm and lived in.
I work on period properties and renovations, creating spaces that feel cohesive, practical and true to the character of the house.
If you’re planning a project and this resonates, feel free to get in touch.

PLANNING A RENNOVATION?
This project started with a series of disconnected rooms.
Dark corners, too many doors blocking light, and a layout that simply didn’t work for modern family life.
The brief was to completely rethink the downstairs, not just how it looked, but how it functioned.
We reworked the floorplan to create a more cohesive flow, carefully considering changes in ceiling heights, floor levels and sightlines to connect each space.
The result is a home that feels lighter, more open and far more practical for everyday living, while still retaining character and warmth.
This is where thoughtful design really matters.
It’s not just about finishes or furniture, but about creating spaces that work effortlessly for the people living in them.
If you’re planning a renovation and your layout isn’t quite working, this is exactly the kind of transformation we specialise in at Katherine Bedson Interior and Landscape Design.
Feel free to get in touch to discuss your project.

“Just go with the flow…”
It sounds effortless, but in reality good flow in a home is rarely accidental.
Behind every calm, natural-feeling space is a lot of careful thinking, analysing layouts, reworking room connections, considering furniture placement, lighting, storage and how people actually move through a home day to day.
For me, every project starts with spatial planning. When the bones of a space work properly, everything else, the finishes, fabrics and final details, falls into place much more naturally.
So yes, go with the flow… but only after a little meticulous planning.
