Three Alan Frewin Millhouse slipware dishes, sold individually

A usual Ceramica Puigedemont Mid Century plate. This Spanish pottery studio is more famous for their fishes so to have a bird is something of a rarity…

A colourful Portuguese garlic grater…

Again Portuguese, this fish dish is by Carmo Saude, a renowned potter known for her hand painted folk art pottery…

A Russian hand painted trinket box…

Four studio pottery cups, no maker’s mark, sold separately…

Shells! We always have a large selection of vintage shells…

West German vases in many different shapes, colours and sizes…

A Pietra Dura box from India. Carved from marble with hard stone inlay…

Tiny trinket boxes from Asia…

Studio pottery espresso cups, three remaining, sold separately

I always feel like I’m wishing my life away working in retail. While everyone else is enjoying the heatwave, I’m receiving emails from suppliers encouraging me to consider what I’ll be stocking for Christmas. I can only slowly drift from one season to the next, holding on to the one before for as long as I can.
With this in mind I have a new window. Dried glasses nod to the end of a glorious summer and fit beautifully with MAKERMARK Furniture’s ash and cord bench.
Autumn? Not yet thank you 🙏🏻

I love the mix of handmade and vintage in the shop. Pieces with a story, things made by hand, and finds that have already lived a life. All brought together in one place, and I hope you enjoy discovering them as much as I do.

Just had a huge delivery of our popular Mid Century style ceramics. Mugs and bowls with colourful glazes and textures, all reminiscent of the bright playful pottery of the 1970s. All available online.

A little shop update. It may have been a hot week but we don’t stop. Open seven days a week through July and August. Stock coming in and thankfully lots going back out again 🙏🏻
Swipe to see some of the newness…

We have a whole range of new stationery inspired by my holiday in Japan. The notebooks (dotted, lined and plain) are from an English brand that are made from recycled coffee cups and come in collections with covers made from repurposed fruit, textiles, nut and even beer waste…

Japanese pen cases, wooden mechanical pencils and aluminium gel pens all helping you to ditch the plastic!…

A very unique ceramic cat bowl, no maker’s mark, I would want everyone to know if I made it!…

I love these Indian puppets, they add colour to an interior. Turn this one upside down and you have Mrs Indian puppet, two for the price of one!…

Who doesn’t love an olive dish? I’m always drawn to Mediterranean ceramics this time of year. If I can’t get away on holiday, I can pretend, especially in this weather…

This gorgeous vase is from Mashiko, in the Tochigi Prefecture in Japan. Known for its rustic, unpretentious aesthetic and thick, earthy forms, the town is a celebrated epicenter of Japan’s Mingei (folk art) movement 🙌🏻…

Living by the sea you have to be attracted to small nautical treasures…

I have two ceramic water carriers in store, always popular, these look great indoors or in the garden…
Another gorgeous Mashikoware vase ❤️…

French Quimper cups, probably for wine, alongside a Hungarian ceramic colander, who knew that pairing would work, but I like it!…

Please bring back the beautiful weather I’ve just changed up the window and have this lovely Adirondack chair, perfect for someone’s patio if the sun finally comes out again!
Scroll past to discover some of this week’s vintage finds. We’re constantly refreshing our collection with one-off treasures, so no two visits are ever quite the same. I find these unique pieces find new homes quickly, they add personality and charm to a home, they also make thoughtful gifts, and I love sourcing them.

Goodbye May, what a great month and its departure was aptly marked by last night’s full moon.

Here’s a final reel showing my second week in Japan, so many of you kindly commented that I didn’t share enough while I was away.

I’m lucky enough to have been to Japan before and I was thinking by going back it may shift that special place it holds in my heart but now I’m home I just have a stronger desire to return. It’s inspiring on so many levels.

Just a quick reminder from Japan that the shop is open this week from Thursday to Sunday, looked after by lovely Rosie.
