Ever wondered why we're not open every day like a typical high street shop?

Well, this little photo collection might explain a thing or two ... 😉

We are a home educating family, and our approach is pretty simple: we want our children to have the freedom to explore what interests them, get hands-on with the world around them, and learn through doing.

Which, as it turns out, means quite a lot of cars, dirt bikes, rallying, marshalling for a motor club, and occasionally making said rally car look slightly less like it's just been dragged through a field 🤣

Our children are passionate about motorsports and anything fast-paced and physical. We want to encourage that passion, give them opportunities to get involved and let them discover what they're capable of along the way 🏁🏆

Because education doesn't have to mean sitting at a desk, and childhood doesn't have to be something you squeeze into the hours left over after everything else.
We're not raising our kids around our opening hours. We're running our business around the life we're building as a family 💜

➡️ And before anyone thinks that means we've disappeared into the sunset on a dirt bike and abandoned the shop... fear not!

We genuinely appreciate every single person who supports our business, whether you're popping in for paint, utilising our counselling service, sharing our posts or recommending us to a friend. You're a big part of why Alchemy is what it is, and we don't take that for granted 🥰

The shop might not always be open, but we're still very much around! We're still here, still contactable and still happy to help. Just drop us a message and get in touch. If you've spotted a paint colour you fancy, need advice, or have a project brewing, give us a shout. We'll sort out a time to get you what you need.

Being a little unconventional doesn't mean making life difficult for our customers 🙂

Alchemy is a big part of our family life, but we've built it to work 𝘢𝘭𝘰𝘯𝘨𝘴𝘪𝘥𝘦 that life, not at the expense of it.

So, if you find the shop closed, there's no great mystery. We might be working on a project, making things happen behind the scenes or off supporting the kids in whatever their latest 'topic' happens to be.
We're doing business a little differently, and we're quite happy with that 💜

𝗜𝘁'𝘀 𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝘄𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗴𝗴𝗹𝗲, 𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝘆𝗼𝘂'𝗿𝗲 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗾𝘂𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗼 𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗽. 💔

You might notice changes in their mood, worries that seem to be getting bigger, difficulties with friends or a growing reluctance to face school or college.

✔️ You ask questions
✔️ You listen
✔️ You reassure them that you're there for them

But sometimes, they don't know how to explain what's happening. And talking to a parent might be the last thing they feel like doing.

Having someone outside their everyday world to talk to can make all the difference. They might benefit from having another person in their corner.

𝗧𝗵𝗮𝘁'𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗠𝗶𝘁𝗰𝗵 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘀 𝗶𝗻.

He offers counselling and wellbeing support for children and young people aged 8 - 25.
With over 10 years' counselling experience, he supports young people through a range of challenges, including;

🧡 Anxiety
💛 Low mood
💚 Trauma
🩵 Emotional regulation difficulties
💜 School anxiety &
🩷 Social difficulties.

Sessions are shaped around the young person. For some, talking is a natural starting point; for others, games, creative activities or simply doing something alongside the conversation, makes it easier to open up.

There's no pressure to arrive knowing exactly what's wrong, or to explain everything straight away. The aim is to give young people the space and support to explore what they're experiencing, at their own pace.

The ones who turn up with kindness, make you smile, and willingly encourage your questionable sense of humour 🤭

The fabulous Amanda from Pembrokeshire Care, Share & Give has ticked all three boxes and then some, with arm-fulls of gorgeous flowers! 💐

Our therapy rooms are looking blooming lovely, and Amanda has once again reminded us that the world is full of people doing good things without needing a fanfare. (But, we're giving her one anyway!) 😍

Amanda puts so much into helping others through her charity, yet still finds time to think of us! She's also a regular in our comments, usually one of the first to join in with our nonsense ... Clearly, a woman of impeccable judgement 👌🏻🤣

I know. Unusual behaviour. I don't relinquish control of my shop often.

While I was out painting a commission, a message arrived from a customer, recounting a conversation they'd had with "the assistant".

THE ASSISTANT.

😂😂😂

I'm sorry, WHAT?! 🤣

This is the man, without whom Alchemy wouldn't exist. The brains, the brawn, the designer, the problem-solver… the person who's helped bring the whole thing to life.

And today, he's 'the assistant' 😂😂😂

There's nothing like a well-timed title demotion to keep a man humble 👌🏻👌🏻

𝙒𝙚𝙡𝙡, 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙬𝙖𝙨 𝙖 𝙧𝙖𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧 𝙡𝙤𝙫𝙚𝙡𝙮 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙤 𝙛𝙞𝙣𝙙 𝙞𝙣 𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙨 💜

We don’t tend to shout too loudly about ourselves. We’re much happier just getting on with it - opening the doors, creating things, fixing things, making a ridiculous amount of mess, and hopefully making people feel welcome when they walk through the door.

A lot of the feedback we get happens right here in the shop. A 'thank you' across the counter, someone popping in for a cuppa and a catch-up, a chat about paint colours and projects… or one of our absolute favourites - someone coming back to proudly show us their finished project! ✨

So when we spotted this comment from Abby, completely unprompted, it was too lovely not to share! 😘

It’s always nice to know that what we do is noticed and appreciated ☺️

🌿 𝗠𝗲𝗲𝘁 𝗡𝗶𝗰𝗸𝗶 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗧𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗼 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗽𝘆 🌿

There are a few new faces appearing through the doors at Alchemy lately, so we thought it was about time we started introducing some of them properly.

First up is Nicki from Thallo Therapy, an independent counsellor who has recently made one of our therapy rooms her base for face-to-face counselling here in Haverfordwest.

She offers a warm, supportive and non-judgemental space for adults experiencing anxiety and stress, grief and bereavement, trauma, health-related anxiety or a loss of identity. Her approach is person-centred, working at your pace and giving you space to explore whatever has brought you to counselling. She also offers online sessions across the UK.

There’s a free 15-minute initial consultation too, giving you the chance to have a chat and see whether it feels like the right fit before taking things any further.

These radiators have been given a fresh new look using Frenchic’s 𝙎𝙢𝙪𝙙𝙜𝙚 - a deep charcoal grey with subtle blue undertones 🩶

Instead of quietly disappearing into the wall, they are now very much part of the room. A simple change, but they've gone from something you barely notice to being statements in their own right.

We’re super pleased for Laura over at Mystical Moon & Sage, who has finally got the keys to her new shop at Riverside Shopping Centre! 👏🏻🎉

✨We're launching the first of our 𝑃𝘶𝑚𝘱𝑘𝘪𝑛 𝑃𝘢𝑖𝘯𝑡 & 𝐶𝘢𝑟𝘷𝑒 workshops, and this one's for home educating families ✨

🎨 𝗣𝘂𝗺𝗽𝗸𝗶𝗻 𝗣𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 (ages 5–10)
A creative hour of painting and decorating, with a pumpkin & all materials included. Parents/carers can stay, have a natter and watch the creativity unfold.

🎃 𝗣𝘂𝗺𝗽𝗸𝗶𝗻 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 & 𝗗𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 (ages 11+)
