Lovell mantle clock under intense scrutiny.

This is the small version of our Jodrell grandfather clock. This one has a regular (old skool) clockface, and is battery powered. Available in oak or walnut veneer.

Beacon table lamp lighting the way.

This lamp was designed and made as a small version of the Beacon floor lamp. I've made them in different heights over the years to suit different contexts.

Chirrup xylophone sculpture keeping a low profile.

This was made back in 2015 for an exhibition. I'm now using the idea for a full-sized marimba table.

"Gong" (working title) - a marimba side table.

For those of you that have always wanted a table you could play tunes on, this musical table could be just what you have been waiting for.

This idea has been on the backburner for years now. It originally started when I made a small musical sculpture for an exhibition ten years ago. And I've hankered after making a big furniture version ever since.

I've now got it all drawn up and have finally begun piecing the first one together. It's been fun tuning the bars and resonators, and it's nice to be thinking about tones and sounds instead of lightbulbs and motors for a change.

Still a lot of details to work through. And all the shaping and finishing to do yet, but it's shaping up well.

Essentially, it is a three-note bass marimba (Bb2, D3, F3) with two shelves mounted above to put things on. The resonators form the main structural 'legs'.

Old friend Crane #9 is looking for a permanent home -

Crane #9 has had more of an adventurous life than most of my creations. Since it left the bench several years ago, it has spent its time in galleries, travelled to exhibitions, and sat on my stand at various design and craft shows across the country.
