I have a retail shop in the busy Northumbrian Market Town of Hexham where I am happy to see customers both old and new and our opening hours are as follows:-

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday 9.00 am to 5.00 pm. Closed all day Thursdays and Sundays - although it is always worth a telephone call prior to travelling long distances as there is always the possibility that I may be away

attending a fair or doing a house call. As well as running our busy retail shop I attend a number of major medal fairs. I can always be found at the monthly Medal Fair held at Outwood near Wakefield as well as the fairs at Stockport, Leeds (Pudsey) Stratford upon Avon & Bowburn / Durham

Many of you will know me from when I ran The Book and Medal Centre in Wakefield from 1995 to 2004 prior to my move to the NorthEast

It’s Wednesday again & here at The Medal Centre in Hexham www.themedalcentre.co.uk we have just completed this weeks update of new stock to our website. This weeks offerings are a bit of a mixed bag with over 50 new items. We have a good selection of WW1 & WW2 campaign groups & a selection of single campaign medals from Victorian items to more recent conflicts. My personal favourites this week are the Queens South Africa medal to the Seaforth Highlanders officer who was sadly killed in action at the battle of Paardeberg 1900 & the WW2 fall of Singapore Japanese prisoner of war group to the R.A.M.C. However I do also like the 1914 star trio with original August to November 1914 clasp & Immediate MSM to the 8th Royal Scots & both of the WW2 Territorial groups to the 1/4th K.O.S.B. As always full details of every item pictured along with price & postal costs can be found on the website www.themedalcentre.co.uk

Wakefield / Outwood Medal fair this Sunday
June 7th
This Sunday 7-6-2026 is this month’s Wakefield Medal fair. This popular monthly fair is held on the first Sunday of every month (except January) & is open to the public from 8am to 1pm. However I very strongly urge anyone who intends to visit? to come along no later than an hour before the fair closes.
The fair is fully booked with a good selection of dealers & promises to hopefully offer something to enhance most people’s collections.

Here at The Medal Centre in Hexham www.themedalcentre.co.uk it has been two weeks since we last updated our website with new stock. However the good news is we have just completed this weeks update & it whilst it’s not the biggest update we have ever done. It’s a good update with lots of interesting & fresh to the market items. We personal favourites this week are the Egypt & Sudan medal 1882-1889 with Gemiazah 1888 clasp to the 20th Hussars recipient who was killed in the cavalry charge at Gemiazah 20-12-1888 & the EIIR A.R.R.C group to Princess Mary’s R.A.F Nursing Service. However if these are not in your area of collecting? Then how about the five bar M.G.S & regimental medal pair to the 5th Foot or the WW1 Military Medal & trio to the 14th Durham Light Infantry fatal casualty from Chester le Street, County Durham & if all that fails to float your boat? Then how about the superb Bronze medallion to the conservative MP for Leeds who was one of the original Leeds pals in 1914.

Here at The Medal Centre in Hexham www.themedalcentre.co.uk we have just completed our first update of new stock to our website for the month of May. This weeks update is slightly smaller than some of our recent updates as it’s a busy time of year here in the shop. However do not be fooled in to thinking this weeks update is in anyway a small & insignificant update? Please do take a moment to take a look at what’s on offer. Highlights this week include a rare EIIR first type military medal. (MM) for services in Korea to the South Wales Borderers & a Royal Humane Society bronze life saving medal with 2nd award clasp to a recipient from Edinburgh for the two successful rescues in the space of a week in 1871. When you couple these with a nice example of the Boer War Transport medal for South Africa 1899-1992 & a good selection of Victorian campaign medals. It’s actually a pretty interesting offering?
