✨ Finished project in Great Doddington! ✨
For this Grade II listed property, it was important to carefully balance the client’s vision for a modern, light-filled space with the sensitivities of a historic building.
The Brief 📑
Our client wanted a modern garden room extension that would complement the existing home while bringing in plenty of natural light. Like many listed buildings, the original house could feel quite dark in places, so our design focused on creating a bright, open space that connects to the garden area 🌿
The Design ✏
🔹A full oak frame structure, while incorporating some brick & stone design features
🔹A subservient glazed link, distinguishing the new from the existing building
🔹Large glazed openings on each side, flooding the room with light and creating a seamless indoor–outdoor space
Sustainability 🌳
The client also wanted to factor more sustainable materials into the build, so we included specifications such as:
🔹Sublime insulated limecrete flooring for breathability and reduced environmental impact
🔹Lime plaster finishes, offering a natural, permeable alternative to modern systems
Special thanks to Artisan Oak Ltd for their outstanding craftsmanship and attention to detail on this build 👏
