We’d like to remind you that the St Duthac Book & Arts Festival starts this Tuesday and it promises to be a great year again. Why not pop into the pop-up bookshop, and meet Evie, my daughter, on Friday, when she does a short artist in residence slot.

We will be taking Fearn Antiques on tour to Prestwick on Saturday, for the South West Philatelic Congress and, as a consequence, will be closed. Will I be picking up another ship model on the way home? You bet!

After three years and many, many times of my wife eating her words, the shop is now dung beetle free. We’ve sold 24 and they’ve been exported all over the world, with the latest (and last) sale going to Australia. I’ve kept the very last one to remind my better half that she’s not to criticise any of the sh:t (literally) that I buy. Now that the shop is dung ball free, I can mention that it is full of only the best quality items, with no old crap whatsoever.

I’m just back from a stock gathering exercise in Aberdeen, and you know that means there’s lots of new stuff (again).

“Holy filled to bursting antique shop, Batman! Fearn Antiques is open from 11ish to 5pm on Thursday. They’ve got a great selection of nearly everything from retro, vintage, collectible and antique stuff. They’ve records, CDs, photos, postcards, China, silver, toys, models, clocks, signs, kitchenalia and things for everyone.”

Just some of the glass and paperweights we always carry in stock. From Glasform, Caithness, Whitefriars, Strathearn, John Ditchfield and Selkirk, we always have some nice ones.

My favourite of these? It’s the iridescent early Glasform paperweight with a beautiful frog on top.

Anyway, enough about chunks of glass …

We are open till five today and you will find me trying to fit even more stuff into the shop.

What does a typical day’s worth of buying look like for Fearn Antiques. Honestly, I’ve got no idea - but this is a tiny fraction of five boxes worth acquired from a house call, and two visitors to the shop.

We are open till five today and 12-3 tomorrow (Sunday).

Here’s just some of the stuff I have priced between yesterday and today. We had a cracking day in the shop and, as always, every space has been filled already.

Don’t be the person who leaves till tomorrow what you could have bought yesterday, because we may just have sold it today.
