Hindolveston Crafts in Action

Hindolveston is home to a talented group of people who demonstrate and sell their crafts. Saturday evening from 6.30pm to 9pm and Sunday from 10am to 4pm.

We hold 2 events each year - a demonstration day in August and a Christmas Craft Market in December. Our Christmas Craft Market, where everything on sale is made by the stallholder, is normally on the first weekend in December. But, sadly, not in 2020. We hope you will still find something hand crafted to love from the selection on our pages here.

It was lovely and cool in Hindolveston village hall today when nine budding willow weavers took part in our latest Crafts in Action workshop. A variety of Catalan baskets were made; some with handles, some with straight sides and others with slanted sides. All looked absolutely fantastic. Thanks to Maxine from A Handful of Sticks for such a great workshop.

If you are interested in joining our next workshop which is Willow Weaving on Saturday 23 May and you haven't already booked a place, please let me know this week. The willow needs to soak for over a week so I need to give in final numbers shortly.

If you haven't seen our previous posts we will be joined by Maxine from A Handful of Sticks on 23 May between 10am and 3.30pm at Hindolveston Village Hall where she will be showing us how to make a Catalan basket. The cost is £65 for all materials, tuition and refreshments including home-made cake.

Hindolveston textile artist Pauline Wrighton is demonstrating how to make Flower Fold Books on Saturday 11th April between 10am and 3pm at Hindolveston Village Hall.

Pauline says that she enjoys working with mixed media, textile and fibre, with a particular interest in stitch. Whether by hand or machine, she is fascinated by the ability of simple sewn marks to alter a prepared surface, creating textural and visual interest, structural integrity and emotional response.

Pauline is inspired by nature and the beautiful surroundings of North Norfolk. She prefers to use vintage or discarded materials to repurpose and re- imagine.

The cost of the workshop is £65 per person which includes Pauline's expert tuition, all materials and tea and coffee and home-made cake.

It was a beautiful sunny morning when we welcomed back Pauline Bull for another painting workshop together with a mix of last month's painters and some new faces. The room was silent when I popped in just before the end as everyone was so absorbed in creating their beautiful flower paintings - as the photos below show.

Do let me know if there is a craft or technique you'd like to try and I'll see if we can provide a workshop for it.

Denim Textile - using recycled jeans to make either a denim apron or a Japanese style notebook (mostly hand-stitching). Saturday 13 June 10.00-3.30, cost £65

In all cases the cost covers tuition, all materials and tea/coffee and home-made cake.

Our latest Crafts in Action workshop took place this morning and nine enthusiastic painters took part in a fun and very productive workshop. Tutor Pauline Bull set the participants painting exercises to complete in short timeframes and this resulted in each person completing several 'works of art' each during the morning.

Pauline will be back to teach another technique next month - Chinese brush flower painting. The workshop is on Saturday 21st March between 10am and 1pm and costs £45. All materials supplied and tea / coffee and home-made cake is also on offer.
