May: a few weeks logged off and the best trip ever 🌓 Every time I’ve been to LA I just love it more and more.

What was the highlight of your May? We were away for the UK heatwave but I hope there was a lot of basking in the sun happening if you were here! ā˜€ļø

I think the internet sometimes has a habit of making a lot of normal people feel behind in perfectly normal homes.

For me, slide 3 is the one because our ā€˜in between’ absolutely did last for years and some of my house is still in that stage right now!

Do you relate to any of these??

Deinfluencing you from thinking every home update needs a massive budget…

This crittall door hack completely changed the look of our space and for a fraction of the price. I spent £53 in total and it was finished in a weekend.

So if you’ve got glass doors or windows that need a bit more personality, be sure to save this one šŸ™ŒšŸ¼

Some recent pics from around my home, and what’s more fun than comparing them to how it used to look?!
The before photos are all from 8 years ago so you better believe me when I say we didn’t do it quickly šŸ™ƒ
You may also notice the lack of a bathroom pic and that’s because it’s a mess. Whenever I think about tackling it I get huge overwhelm and put it off for another year, but maybe this year I will finally get it sorted… maybe!

Some of things that helped me love my home ā¤ļø
Our house ticked so many boxes but when we moved in (with a 3 month old and 1 year old) I hated living here. The house was well looked after but everything was so dated and not to our taste at all. With little time and little budget on our hands, these were some of the ways I made our house a home - it goes to show you can definitely work with what you have.
One day we will renovate and splash the cash on our dream finishes but until then I’m proud of what we’ve achieved making it what it is today, and I hope it inspires some of you too!

I most definitely use my home as my canvas and as a creative outlet, but what do we do when we run out of walls… start all over again?!

I want to normalise slow decorating, so here is a realistic look at the evolution of our living room. After 2 years of living with it completely untouched we slowly started to transform the space bit by bit, spanning over a period of 6 years.
Social media can put pressure on us to feel as though we need to turn a room around in a weekend, or constantly change/update our homes but that’s not real life and I don’t want to make people feel that way! So if you’re making slow progress, saving up funds to start a project, or struggling to find the time to finish - don’t worry, you’re not alone šŸ™ŒšŸ¼

I must have redecorated my daughter’s room three times before tackling the main living areas of our home!
I felt so comfortable doing kids spaces (mostly because you can have as much fun with it as you like) that I was scared to do any of our living spaces as they felt massively out of my depth.
Her room has definitely got brighter and bolder over time and we’re really happy with it right now, she picked out the wallpaper herself and has all that a 7 year old could need. However I really do miss her little Ikea turquoise bed! It was so cute 😭

The before photos are from when we viewed the house… Each room took time, mess and lots of mistakes but seeing the difference always reminds me it’s worth it.
Which room is your favourite transformation?

Also, some of our house still looks like the before… 😬
