Ten years ago today…
On 28th August 2016, we opened the doors to our little pop-up shop next door to the carpet warehouse.
Looking back through the photos this morning, I’d forgotten what a great turnout we had on opening day!
At the time, Eleni, Sherilee and I had formed our own little co-op under the banner of Herts & Essex Artisan Markets. We were simply a group of like-minded furniture painters, all creating and painting our own pieces and probably making things up as we went along!
Looking at the furniture in these photos now is quite something. Some of it I’d completely forgotten about, but I can still remember the excitement of having a shop full of pieces we’d created ourselves and actually opening the doors for people to come in and see them.
It really was such an exciting time and another little chapter in how Colour Me KT became what it is today.
And as if opening a shop wasn’t enough for one day, 28th August 2016 was also the day Luke came home after two and a half years travelling!
Of all the days he could have chosen to fly home… 😂
So before opening the shop, we were up at the crack of dawn and off to the airport to collect him. I’m not entirely sure how I survived that day!
Ten years. How on earth did that happen?
I’m so glad I took all these photos though. There are so many memories wrapped up in them, and looking back at them today has made me realise just how much has happened since. ❤️
