It’s dahlia season (ish) Some absolutely stunning dahlias…. Noodle for scale 😂

I pressed these 18 months ago, they’re some of the first successful dahlias I ever pressed whole…. Finding it difficult to let them go and don’t want to use them but wanted to show you guys.

I can’t quite believe I’m saying this… but my original Yorkshire piece has SOLD! 🌸🌿

I only finished creating this piece a month ago, after more than 70 hours of carefully placing hundreds of real pressed flowers and foliage — all grown and collected here in Yorkshire.

I knew it would be difficult to let the original go, especially so soon after finishing it, but I genuinely couldn’t be happier that it’s going to such a lovely home where it will be treasured. 💕

And to make the whole moment even more special, the lovely family who bought it wanted a photo of us together with the artwork before it went off to its new home — I genuinely felt like a little celebrity for a minute 😂🌸 Definitely a pinch-me moment!

The craziest part is that I haven’t even had chance to properly advertise the original yet! It came along to the shows with me and found its new home all by itself.

Thankfully, I created a very small Limited Edition of just 50 fine art prints of the original — and there are now only 30 left.

Once those 30 are gone, that’s it. There will never be another run.

A little piece of Yorkshire, made from Yorkshire flowers, preserved forever. 🌸

Thank you so much to everyone who has stopped to look at it, asked about how it was made, bought a print or simply told me how much they love it. This piece has been incredibly special to create, and seeing the response to it has meant so much. 🤍

🌼 “Perfect Purples” – Pressing Darker Flowers 2/5

Darker flowers behave really differently when you press them.

They tend to hold their colour better than lighter ones, but they can also dry much deeper than expected — sometimes losing a lot of their natural variation.

One thing that’s quite tricky with them is how they react once you start working with them again. Even though they’re fully dried, they’re still really sensitive.

As soon as you introduce glue, you’re also reintroducing a small amount of moisture back into the flower — and that can change the colour quite noticeably.

Even though I’m using the tiniest amount of glue, you can still see how delicate the process is and how much impact that small step can have.

You can see it here with the pink cosmos — parts of it have shifted more purple where the glue has interacted with the petal. It’s something you have to be really aware of, because once it happens, you can’t reverse it.

So it’s not just about pressing them well — it’s about how you handle them afterwards too.
