I absolutely ❤️ this beautiful banquette and joinery combination for a dining room or kitchen. Seen at WOW!House today, the green fabric, wall covering, art and lighting combination is 👌.

If you could see something like this in your home, I would love to design it for you!

What’s it like to work with an interior designer? Project management.

Once the design is finalised, I offer a project management service to make your design scheme a reality.

This service is ideal for clients who are too busy with work or family life to spend time researching trades and purchasing individual items, or for people who haven’t had any work done in their home for a while.

If an installation is required, I introduce trusted trades that I work with regularly to visit and provide a quote for the work. They are briefed on your design before visiting, and for more complex jobs I’ll review their quotes with them too so you get a clear, fully inclusive proposal to decide on.

Before work begins I provide written and visual briefs to the fitters and make sure all materials are on site so installations run smoothly with no unnecessary delays. I’m available by phone and in person to resolve any issues that come up to help you get the best result for your installation.

My project management service can also cover purchasing if clients would like help with this. I am happy to organise the ordering and purchasing of some or all of the elements of a design scheme. My clients can often benefit from the trade accounts I hold at various companies.

I think it’s very important to have honest, transparent pricing so my clients pay trades directly (I don’t mark up others’ work). For my project management service I track my hours and charge an agreed hourly rate, invoiced at the end of each month I work on the project. I find this is an effective way to achieve excellent end results for my clients.

If a stress-free, honestly-priced design and installation service to update rooms in your home sounds good to you, please get in touch for an initial chat.

Oh look at this totally funky cat print from your archive! 😻

My great aunt and uncle ran a soft furnishings business last century and I recently found some fabrics at my parent's house. How amazing is this print!

In a family bathroom used mainly by the children, I enjoyed using colour and pattern to create a fun space. I chose the colourful terrazzo tile first and then picked up the pink colour for the floor and a grounding dark green for the vanity. The shower curtain from La Redoute tied the colour scheme together perfectly - as well as adding an energising pattern.

This generously-sized en suite with masses of natural light was made for luxury tiles, a huge walk in shower and beautiful double basins.

This project for clients in Felbridge was designed by me, supplied by and and installed by Surefit Installations.

The choice of lighting can make a huge difference in a bathroom.

Ceiling spotlights are still common — they’re practical, and sometimes the only option — but they can't give you the layered lighting effect that will elevate your bathroom from ordinary to luxury.

Wall lights, placed either side of a mirror, give you a much softer, more even light — which is what you actually want for things like make-up or shaving. There's no harsh shadows or top-down glare.

They also let you bring the lighting level right down in the evening, so the room feels calm rather than clinical.

And the wall light itself matters too.

In this blue-tiled family bathroom used by two boys, the light needed to have a crisp, clean, modern finish. But in the Art Deco guest bathroom I could select a fitting that was more decorative and pretty, with the fluted glass perfectly fitting the Art Deco theme.

A recent inspiration day took me to the new V&A Storehouse in East London. It is literally set up like a storehouse - various items are on display at any one time - and they are mounted on pallets, wire screens and in cases. There's a little detail on each piece on the app, but mainly you can enjoy the exhibits visually. I particularly enjoyed the tiles and textiles - and this extremely nifty 1950s European kitchen. So much practicality in 2.5m and a bang on trend colourway for now! I'd recommend a visit for an hour - and if you like David Bowie you'll enjoy his archive which is kept there too.

T R E N D B O A R D — Banquette seating in the dining area is the perfect way to add personality while making the most of your space. Framing it with built-in cabinetry, plush upholstery or beloved artwork lets you develop the room's colour palette, layer in pattern and texture, and showcase your favourite collections. A patterned floor or rug will zone the area, and unusual, craft-styled chairs contribute to creating a gorgous focal point in your home.

If you have space perfect for a dining banquette, I'd love to help you make your dreams a reality!

Of course I watched the first episode of Interior Design Masters last night - the best British interior design programme. I've been watching it since 2014 when it was called The Great Interior Design Challenge and was rather quaint and safe. It's so exciting to see how open people are now to bringing colour and character into their homes.

If I had designed a beach hut I would have chosen the sea as my inspiration. I hope I would have got across my signature style of my love of uplifting colours, mid-century style and pattern, illustrative artwork and graphic-patterned fabric.

I would have chosen a light vinyl floor with sparkly specks to bounce around the light, with a graduated blue paint colour scheme. I love the Drift fabric from StudioG that I would have upholstered my banquette seats in. Beyond the comfy banquettes a long curtain in red ticking stripe on a circular track, and a backsplash tiled in stripy yellow tiles with shelves above, would have added colour and pattern.

I would have hoped to find some driftwood on the beach to make a hanging light fixture, and found somewhere for this fun stripy lamp - both with rechargeable bulbs. I would have layered in Japanese style artwork, striped cushions, a yellow throw, and seaside hooks on the doors to dry your bathers on. What do you think?
