⚠️ Thinking that a small sample is a true representation of the finished floor can be a very costly mistake.

One of the biggest misconceptions when choosing a wood-effect Amtico floor is assuming that the small sample sent in the post shows the full range of colours and tones you’ll see once the floor is installed.

Wood designs often contain significant variation between planks, with lighter, darker, warmer and cooler tones all mixed throughout the floor to create a realistic natural wood appearance. A small sample can only show a tiny fraction of that variation.

That’s why it’s so important to return to the showroom and view a fullsize sample board before making your final decision. Seeing multiple planks together gives a much more accurate representation of the overall look and feel of the floor.

Even better, use the visualiser software to see how the flooring will look across a larger area and within your own room setting. What appears perfect on a small sample can look completely different when laid across an entire space.

Take the time to see the full picture before ordering. A few extra minutes in the showroom could save you from an expensive disappointment later.

Part 2
One of the reasons I love what I do is that I’m not just selling carpets and flooring, I’m sharing the stories behind them.

When a carpet arrives in our showroom, I see more than the finished design. I think about the journey it has taken to get here and the people who made it possible.
Most people will never meet the individuals involved in the process but their work is present in every fibre.

In a world where so many products are anonymous, I think there’s something special about knowing where something comes from and appreciating the craftsmanship behind it, especially when it’s locally made!

So that’s why I enjoy showing these behind-the-scenes moments. Not just to explain how a carpet is made, but to celebrate the people who make them.

Because every great carpet has a story and every story deserves to be told. Come find me in a pub sometime and I’ll bore you to tears with my carpet stories 😂😂

“What’s the best carpet for a teenager’s bedroom?”

It’s a question I get asked a lot, and my answer is always the same:

The one you’re least emotionally attached to.

Let’s be honest. Teenagers have a unique talent for turning a perfectly nice bedroom into a crime scene for snacks, energy drinks, muddy trainers, hair products, and mystery stains that nobody wants explained.

So when choosing a carpet for a teenager’s room, I’d recommend:

✅ A darker colour than you originally wanted ✅ Something durable enough to survive a small herd of elephants ✅ Stain resistance that’s bordering on military-grade ✅ A style that still looks good when half of it is hidden under clothes

What I wouldn’t recommend is a beautiful cream carpet that cost a fortune. Unless, of course, you enjoy living dangerously.

The good news? Modern stain-resistant carpets are incredibly hard-wearing and can cope with most of what teenage life throws at them.

The bad news? They still can’t protect you from finding three-week-old pizza under the bed.

Choose practical. Future you will thank you.

One of the most rewarding parts of the job is when a client is so delighted with their new floor that they take the time to send me photos of the finished result.

It’s something we don’t get to see very often. From the initial showroom visit, to the site survey and measure, right through to preparing and submitting the quotation, we spend a lot of time helping clients choose the perfect flooring for their home. Once the order is placed, the project moves into the capable hands of our fitters, whose job it is to turn that vision into reality.

That’s why receiving photos like these means so much. Seeing the finished floor in its new home and knowing the customer is thrilled with the result makes all the hard work worthwhile. It’s a reminder that we’re not just supplying flooring, we’re helping create spaces that people love to live in.

I know this must rattle round your brain all the time, but have you ever wondered how many people it takes to make a single carpet?

Most of us only ever see the finished piece.

What we don’t see are the hundreds of people involved along the way, from cleaning the wool and spinning the yarn, to weaving, finishing, cutting and delivering the final product.

This reel is a reminder that behind every carpet is a remarkable story of craftsmanship, skill and dedication.

The finished carpet may sit in one room, but its journey spans countless hands, generations of expertise and an entire community of makers.

That’s the part of the story most people never see. This first part shows all the work that goes in to just prepare the wool before it made into a carpet! Enjoy 🐑

Funny how a work visit can unlock memories from 25 years ago…

Today, walking through a carpet manufacturer brought it all flooding back to my time working on a sheep station in Australia 🇦🇺

Most people see a finished carpet and never think twice about what goes into it.But behind every roll of carpet is years of work, skill, and graft…

From rearing the lambs, to shearing the fleece, to processing and spinning the wool into yarn strong enough to last for years, it’s an incredible journey before it ever reaches a floor.

Seeing that process again gave me a whole new appreciation for the people and industries behind something we often take for granted.

Amazing where life takes you… and the memories it brings back.

People see the finished carpet… but they don’t always see what it takes to get there. 💪

A day in the life of a carpet fitter isn’t just rolling out flooring and calling it a day. It’s hauling a 100kg carpet up narrow staircases, twisting it through awkward hallways, trying not to scrape freshly painted walls or damage bannisters along the way.

Sometimes the hallway turns tighter than the carpet. Sometimes the bedroom is packed with wardrobes, beds, drawers, and furniture that all has to be shifted before the real work even begins. And once the carpet’s in, everything goes straight back where it came from.

It’s heavy work, long days, sore backs, scraped knuckles, and problem-solving on the spot, because no two houses are ever the same.

But at the end of it all, seeing that perfect finish and knowing the customer’s happy makes it worth it. 👌

Next time you walk across a fresh new carpet, just remember… getting it there was probably the hardest part. 🔨🏠 Our fitters are some of the finest in the land and we’re very proud of them, if you don’t believe us, check our Google reviews❤️
