Another workshop at .bury!

I always like to take a moment to just watch people enjoying their time and getting into their zone.

Calligraphy is one of the most therapeutic hobbies and a LOT of people comment on how relaxing the class is. We tend to have some chill music, some coffee/tea and also some good banter! 😆

Its always a delight to see those people who take take the plunge and freestyle on their own - those are the people I hope will return for my Refresher class .bury in July!

This class will be taking the next step - building in more words and analysing the space you have available on the card, assessing the placement and alignment of your calligraphy.

It’s my birthday today 🎉

So I thought I’d say a proper hello and a little bit about me for anyone new here 👋

This is me popping out some stationery at the recent showcase - Hi, I’m Louise - the person behind Loughmans Lettering. I don’t post very often on here (life is full on!), but behind the scenes I’m always creating, planning, and working on your orders.

A bit about me.. I’m a mum to two busy boys, and alongside this, I work as a therapy clinical trials radiographer. So life is definitely a juggle! I fit lettering in whenever I can, usually around everything else, but I always make sure my customers are looked after and prioritised when they book with me.

Most of my work is wedding-based, but I also love running workshops, it’s such a nice way to share what I do and connect with people in a more personal way.

I just want to say a huge thank you to everyone who’s supported me - whether you’ve liked, shared, commented, booked with me, or come along to a workshop. It honestly means more than I can put into words 💛

Here’s to another year of creativity, balance (hopefully!), and doing more of what I love ✍️

The other week, I spent my Friday writing out two chalkboards for the lovely .

They asked for 2 similar sized boards and gave me the text they wanted writing on them. I put together a design for each, and once approved, I handlettered them onto the boards.

Pretty chuffted with how they turned out.

Cafe boards aren't my normal go-to, but I loved it, and I'm on the lookout for any other cafes that need a refresh of their blackboards!

I had a word with myself yesterday...
Lately, I have lost my va va voom, my passion & love for this little business of mine. It's not easy juggling home life, nhs work & calligraphy work too. But yesterday I had a word with myself and realised I still love my little business and it has got to continue, it's got to grow and it's got to adapt!

Weddings have been my main source of calligraphy work for years, yet with more and more people looking to make their own stationery or opting for a smaller wedding guest list, the work is in decline.

So, workshops were my new thing this year, I have loved doing them and will continue to develop these into 2026..

But something else is coming too, I am slowly working on other things in the background to expand my little calligraphy portfolio, and having made myself a huge brainstorm map to pin on my wall I have no excuse not to work hard and make sure I can make it happen.

I'm telling you all this for two reasons - 1- you guys are a huge support to me, and just knowing that you are watching and encouraging me on my lettering adventure is amazing! And 2 - things are going to look a little different moving forwards...weddings will always be my favourite, but I am going to be showcasing more personalised items, workbooks & other calligraphy creations - so keep watch! There's so much on the horizon! 💫

The celestial boho vibe of showcase last week was stunning! ..with fairy lights, moons, stars, pampas & candles, it was a relaxing and tranquil atmosphere, perfect for these darker, colder months.

NEW MUMS... Sometimes, just getting out of the house is all you need!

Do you have a list of things to do so long that you can't bear looking at it? I get you!

Come along and have a relaxing few hours (bring the baby!!) Learn a relaxing skill to help destress from those over stimulated days, and do some xmas prep whilst you're there!

All my venues are pram friendly with ramp or no step access, have plenty of room for a pram & have either baby change facilities or areas suitable to change a baby.

I am there to help!

I have 2 young boys (5 and 1.5yrs) so I know very well how hard it is to juggle xmas prep, enjoy time with your baby but also feel like you need a little something for you!

Don't fret about the baby waking up or needing cuddles, we can work around it!

It's a relaxed session. There's room for feeding and space to just do what you need to.

My calligraphy kits are to take home so you won't feel pressured to finish, and I am on hand for advice & tips indefinitely after your session.

🎄✍️It's gonna be a Christmas special Calligraphy Workshop on 14th Novemeber

Practice with your calligraphy nib & ink in a workbook designed to teach the skills you need to create beautiful lettering & WOW your Christmas guests when they sit to dinner with personalised calligraphy placecards you made yourself!
