This is the second child’s chair I’ve done for my client. It’s a bit of a family tradition of theirs - my client has one from his own childhood and now the two grandchildren have their own as well.

The Timorous Beasties fabric was definitely a luxury choice (and treat for me to use it!) Black enamel studs finish it off perfectly.

I’ve been quiet for a while as I’ve had a little time off 🙂 Here’s a project I completed just before my break. A pair of Vono-style egg chairs. These were stripped back to their shells which were scraped and sanded to get them really clean before having new foam added and then new sewn covers upholstered on. Fabric was the client’s own - a chunky orange wool boucle.

1960s GPlan 403 “TV” chair. This is really an early version of what we now call modular furniture - the idea being that several could be joined together in a row to make a sofa (to watch the TV!)

This one belonged to my client’s grandma. Fully re-upholstered and covered in this gorgeous green which has a slightly vintage feel.

💚 Green goddess 💚
This chaise belonged to my client’s parents and she always remembers it being in the house growing up. As its new custodian, my client wanted to bring it back to life whilst not moving too far away from how it looked before. When fully stripped back, I did have a surprise as there had been a few alterations over the years - and the way it looks now is not how it originally started out life. After a bit of problem-solving and a few repairs it was ready to be reupholstered.

Art Deco cane chair with ‘sunrise’ back. A lot of work went into getting this chair back to its beautiful self. Cane work is quite niche and I am still relatively new to it but it’s important to hold onto these heritage skills. My client says that her Dad (who is now in his eighties) remembers the chair being in the house when he was a boy so it’s definitely a treasured family piece. I’m so happy that its journey will be continuing - and thank you to my client for trusting me with it 💚
