Started pottery painting a few years ago and have developed into making my own work as well as painting bisque pieces at a local pottery painting studio.

🌿 What have I let myself in for?! 😂

It's a bit of a wind chime production line here at Sue Norman Pottery at the moment!

Pre-orders to complete, mountains of glazing to get through, wind chimes waiting to be strung and more trips to the Royal Mail lockers than I care to count! 📦😂

With Christmas creeping ever closer, it seems some of you are far more organised than I am and have already started your Christmas shopping! 🎄🎁

It's certainly keeping me busy, but I'm so grateful for every single order. ❤️

Anyway, time to head off to the day job now... then it'll be straight back to the glazing and stringing this evening! 🤣

Who needs relaxing evenings anyway?! 😂

🌿 Pre-orders are still open with a 3–4 week turnaround.

✨ Sometimes the best pieces happen when things don't go to plan! ✨

This little raku beauty wasn't actually what I had in mind when I started! 😂

My original plan didn't quite work out, so rather than give up, I decided to have a bit of a play and see where it took me.

And this was the result! 💙💛

One of those happy accidents that reminds me why I love pottery so much. Sometimes it's better to just go with the flow and see what happens!

And the best bit? It's already SOLD before it even made it onto Etsy! 🥰

I think I might have to have a few more of these little experiments! ❤️

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

What a lovely review to receive! ❤️

It always makes my day knowing that something I've made is going to be enjoyed, especially when it's being given as a gift! 🎁

Every wind chime is handmade with care, so it's wonderful to hear they're arriving safely and making people happy.

A huge thank you to everyone who supports my little pottery business. Every order and lovely review really does mean so much! 🥰

🔥🏺 A little fire, a lot of smoke and a touch of Raku magic! 🏺🔥

What a fantastic day yesterday getting stuck into another Raku firing!

There's something so exciting about this process. You start with a piece of pottery that looks fairly ordinary, then add a bit of heat, flames, smoke and a whole lot of anticipation… and hope for the best! 😂🔥

I was particularly excited to see how my new designs would turn out, especially as I'd challenged myself to create pieces that looked wheel-thrown when they were actually slab-built.

And I'm absolutely thrilled with the results! 😍

The beautiful crackle effects, earthy tones and unique markings are exactly why I love Raku. You never quite know what you're going to get, and no two pieces will ever be the same.

The photos show just how much the pieces change throughout the process, from their rather plain beginnings to their smoky, crackled finishes.

A brilliant day doing what I love, experimenting, learning and getting thoroughly covered in smoke! 😂

Which piece is your favourite? ❤️

🔥🏺 IT'S RAKU DAY!! 🏺🔥

My favourite kind of day! 😍

These little beauties have been patiently waiting for their turn in the raku kiln, and today is finally the day!

I've been playing around with some new shapes and designs, including a little challenge to myself to make slab-built pieces look like they've been thrown on the wheel.

The glazes are on, and now it's over to the fire, smoke and a little bit of raku magic! ✨🔥

Will they turn out as I'm hoping? Who knows! 😂 That's half the fun of raku – you never quite know what you're going to get!

🤞 Fingers crossed for some lovely surprises and hopefully not too many disasters!

Watch this space for the results! ❤️

🤣 I think it's safe to say the wind chime production line is officially back in business!

My drying rack is working overtime, and I'm beginning to wonder if I've accidentally opened a small factory! 🏭😂

Lots of little ceramic pieces drying nicely before their first trip into the kiln.

Who knew making wind chimes involved making quite so many bits?! 🤦‍♀️🤣

Thank you to everyone who's already placed a pre-order. I'd better get back to work! ❤️

🌿 EXCITING NEWS – WIND CHIME PRE-ORDERS ARE NOW AVAILABLE! 🎶🏺

My handmade ceramic wind chimes have proved so popular that I've now added a pre-order option to my Etsy shop! 💚

If you've had your eye on a particular colour combination but found it sold out, you can now order it rather than waiting for me to restock.

✨ How it works:
🌸 Colours marked (PO) are available to pre-order.
🌸 Each wind chime will be handmade, glazed and fired especially for you.
🌸 Please allow 3–4 weeks for your wind chime to be made and dispatched.
🌸 Colours without (PO) are already made and ready to send!

All my wind chimes are made from frost-proof stoneware, so they can bring a little handmade charm to your garden all year round. 🍃

Thank you so much for all the love you've shown these little creations. It's lovely knowing they're hanging in gardens far and wide! ❤️

🔥🏺 RAKU DAY IS COMING! 🏺🔥

Next Saturday I'll be attending a Raku firing day, and these beauties are now bisque fired and ready to go! 🔥

I set myself a little challenge with these pieces – to create something that looks more like it's been thrown on a pottery wheel, when in fact every single one has been slab built by hand!

I have to say, I'm really pleased with how they've turned out so far! ❤️

Now comes the exciting part – seeing how they turn out after their Raku firing!

One of the things I love about Raku is that you never quite know what the finished result will look like. That's all part of the magic! ✨

Fingers crossed they survive the firing and come home looking fabulous! 🤞🔥

Watch this space for the results!

A little behind the scenes 🏺

There's so much more to making pottery than the finished piece!

From rolling and shaping the clay, adding textures, drying, firing, glazing and firing again — there's quite a journey before something is ready for its new home.

Sometimes things don't quite go to plan either, but that's all part of the magic of handmade ceramics!

Would you like to see more of the making process?

A little bit of nature captured in clay 🌿

One of my favourite things about working with clay is being able to capture the beautiful details of nature.

From delicate leaf veins to gorgeous shades of green, every piece is a little reminder of the countryside around us here in Kent.

No two pieces are ever quite the same, and that's what makes handmade pottery so special. 💚

Are you a lover of greens and natural tones, or do you prefer something a little brighter?
