I painted this view of Derwentwater for my Dad's birthday earlier this year.

My parents had visited this spot in the Lake District several years earlier, and seeing it myself has given me a new appreciation for all their holiday photos.

Testing colour palettes in gouache

A blank canvas is calling my name for a painting of the Lake District landscape. I've tried a few quick experiments here of colour palettes to try and capture the vibe ✨

One thing that I've found from painting on location is that it's easier to add more colour where a photograph doesn't suggest it.

The sea wasn't this Mediterranean blue, but that's the feeling it gave with the bright sunshine and beautiful view!

Enjoying the beautiful scenery in Ilfracombe on a weekend away for my friend's wedding💍

I ventured up the coastal path to this viewpoint with my new watercolours (thanks mum!) to do some plein air painting 🖌️🎨

The sunshine caught me out since the forecast said rain/ overcast... so of course I got sunburnt 😂
