A lovely moment from our Everything Yorkshire Competition, presenting our winners with their prizes at the Ilkley shop!

A huge thank you to Winsor & Newton and Liquitex for generously sponsoring the prizes.

We’re so grateful for their support and for helping us make the competition that little bit more special ☺️

And one more thank you to everyone who entered, visited the exhibition and got involved along the way 💛

Standing easel or table easel…?

If you’re choosing an easel, it really comes down to how you like to work and how much space you have.

A table easel is a great option if you’re short on room, like to work sitting down, or want something you can easily pack away when you’re finished. They’re handy for smaller canvases and work well on a desk or kitchen table.

A standing easel gives you more freedom with larger work and lets you paint upright, which can be much more comfortable if you like to step back and look at your painting as you go.

Neither is necessarily “better”, it’s just about finding the one that fits the way you paint.

Which do you prefer: standing or tab

A lovely little creative set for younger artists 🎨
These Caran d’Ache Swisscolor water-soluble fibre-tipped pens are a great way to keep children busy with something creative.

They can be used like regular felt tips for drawing and colouring, or blended with a little water to create softer, paint-like effects. The set also comes with some lovely colouring sheets, so there’s something to get started with straight away.

A nice choice for weekends, rainy afternoons or a thoughtful little gift for a budding artist

You can vote in the Gallery or online, and voting is open until Friday 9th October.

🏆 We’ll be announcing our two winners on Saturday 10th October.

There’s a little bookworm hiding in our Ilkley window… 👀📚🐛

We’re delighted to be taking part in this year’s Ilkley Literature Festival Children’s Bookworm Trail!

We’ve created a special window display at our Ilkley shop, complete with our bookworm and a question for little trail-hunters to answer along the way 🎨📖

Pick up a trail map and entry form from The Grove Bookshop, then make your way around the participating Ilkley businesses, finding the bookworms and answering the questions in each window.

The trail runs until Sunday 18th October, and completed entries can be returned to The Grove Bookshop to be entered into the prize draw. 🎉
If you’re doing the trail, make sure you come and find ours! 👀

A big thank you to our very own Wendi New for joining us at our Ilkley shop last Thursday and demonstrating some fabulous Rosa Watercolours 🎨💛

It was lovely seeing Wendi at work, sharing her techniques and showing just how much you can do with these beautiful paints.

And thank you to everyone who popped in to watch, have a chat and enjoy the demo with us. We loved having you!

👀 Keep an eye out too... we might have a few more in-store demonstrations up our sleeves later this year.

A huge thank you to Laura Dawes for joining us and sharing her work with us over the past few weeks 🎨

It’s been lovely having Laura in the Ilkley shop for her live demonstrations, chatting about her work, sharing techniques and giving everyone a closer look at how her paintings come together.

And a big thank you to everyone who popped in to watch, have a chat and take a look around. It was so nice to see so many of you there!

We've got Wendi New in tomorrow from 11am demonstrating Rosa Gallery Watercolours 😊

PanArt is back in stock 🎨

We’ve had a restock of some really useful PanArt studio essentials!

Perfect for getting your kit organised, trying out ideas on canvas without committing to a full stretched canvas, or adding texture and expressive marks with a palette knife.

A nice little restock for painters who like practical, no-fuss studio gear 👀
