Absolutely incredible work by Dels Doodles bringing a bit of World Cup optimism to Academy Street this week.

What makes it even more impressive?
The whole thing was painted live by hand on the inside of the glass… in reverse… so it faces the right way outside 🤯

Safe to say it’s stopped more than a few people in their tracks today 😄

Buying a new appliance shouldn’t end with a box left in the kitchen.

Last month Phil & I spent a couple of days down at the Euronics 2026 Showcase looking at what’s coming next across TVs, home entertainment and appliances.

One thing we always try to do is avoid simply filling the shop with products because they’re “new”. We want to see things for ourselves, compare them properly and work out what genuinely deserves space in our showroom and ultimately in customers’ homes across Inverness and the Highlands.

There were some really interesting new products and brands on show this year, particularly across TVs and kitchen appliances, and it was great spending time speaking directly with manufacturers and seeing products demonstrated properly rather than simply reading specification sheets.

It was also a good opportunity to catch up with many of the brands we’ve worked closely with for years, and we’re grateful for the continued support from both existing and new manufacturer partners as the industry continues to evolve.

A lot of what customers will start to see appearing in-store over the next 12 months will likely have started from conversations and demonstrations at events like this.

Also a big thanks to Chris for holding the fort back in Inverness while we were away.

Still plenty to finalise, but exciting times ahead.

“It’s not working.”

That’s how most of these start.

Sometimes…
it genuinely isn’t.

But more often than you’d think —
it is.

A setting’s changed.
Something’s been pressed.
A mode’s been switched without realising.

It looks like a fault.

In reality,
it just needs setting up properly again.

That’s the bit most people never see.

Not everything needs replacing.

Most faults look expensive before they look obvious.

Menus lagging.
Apps taking ages.
Everything feels a bit off.

Nothing actually wrong with it.

Just needed setting up properly.

Once that’s done:
– quick
– responsive
– back to how it should be

Most of the time, it’s not the TV at all.

First proper day of Spring.

You can tell straight away…

Doors open.
Windows open.
Everything feels lighter.

It’s also the day people start noticing things they’ve been ignoring.

The TV that suddenly looks dull.
The fridge that never really stops humming.
The bits of the house that haven’t quite kept up.

Funny how a bit of sun shows everything up.
