Aurorabearealis Aurorabearealis the Studio Gallery of Susan Phillips, Artist and Creator of beautiful things. I find it hard not to see images in such surfaces.

Texture plays a large part in the inspiration behind my work, I love old peeling paint, decaying wood and rusty metal as well as patterns in nature like tidemarks on a sandy beach or the flotsam and jetsam left behind by the tide. Living and working in the Highlands of Scotland means nature and the sea has a huge influence on my Art. Much of my work is mixed media and I particularly enjoy using co

llage to add texture to pieces. I often experiment with media not immediately associated with fine Art like embossing enamels, beading, textiles and fibres, for me the lines between Art and Craft can be very blurred.

As if getting knotted once wasn't enough I went and did it again!
This time in an enchanting mythical colour mix called Dragon's Eye 🐲 with a long knotted net fringe at one end.

Handwoven in a 75% Superwash Wool 25% Biodegradable Polyamide.
This one is 184cm x 41cm.

Next up, I've been getting myself in a bit of a knot... well hundreds of them really.
A vivid rainbow that goes on forever, really long this one.

Handwoven in a 75% Superwash Wool 25% Biodegradable Polyamide and finished with a long hand knotted net fringe.
A generous 250cm x 34cm including the fringe.

Sometimes it's so tempting just to keep something I've made and this is one of them.😍
But I've been good and packaged it up for sale... whilst reminding myself I have more of this yarn in colours I like even more.

Handwoven with an ultra soft and so light it's barely there luxurious merino/silk/yak blend in a subtle and not so subtle plaid pattern.

Twiddly fiddly and ultimately sore on the fingers considering there are 180 threads to be twisted together then knotted again and again and again...🪢but I'm really liking the end result.
