Last week, as Ipswich Town were celebrating getting promoted to the Premier League, I managed to have an exciting time exploring Children's Literature Day at the Hold - with beautiful picture illustrations with Claire Powell, children's writing with JP Rose, and a live pitching event that brought lots of humor in the audience all in the mix, there surely was a lot going on!

Fantasy time again! In this blog post, I decided to try out a new creative writing group - the Wolsey Writers, run by two-time novelist Katie Ward, and it just happened to be that April's theme was about Terry Pratchett - one of the world's most famous fantasy writers, having written 41 novels about his Discworld planet.

A bit of a drift away from fantasy. To enlighten people in the run-up to the Easter holidays, I have taken the liberty to write a four-line poem that is inspired by Lemn Sissay's Let the Light Pour In, having attended his live poetry reading session at the University of Suffolk on the 23rd of March.

Some more information about my writing inspirations can be found here: https://jakubsfantasymapworld.blogspot.com/2026/03/writing-lemn-sissay-inspired-four-liner.html

Well, what an absolute pleasure it was attending the creative writing workshop at the British Library conservation centre yesterday… it was fascinating hearing about Spanish literature, urban lifestyles, social divides and power, and a debate about our writing projects that had lots of fascinating ideas flying around everywhere!

Looking forward to releasing the full write-up of the event in the coming days.

And keeping with the theme of cities, I would like to leave you all with this dramatic panorama of the massive skyscrapers out in the Docklands…

Hello and hope all of you have had a happy new year. I will be taking you on a journey through the Secret Maps exhibition at the British Library, as well as events covering the history of mapping secrecy and the galaxy of paranormal and mysterious that come alive with it, and I hope that the past few months that I have spent taking part in the things related to the exhibition will be worth an enjoyable read.
