APRIL HAS BEEN FAB 🌸🌺🌼
So many ‘pinch me’ moments coupled with wholesome goodness to fill my cup 🌈
The weather has been glorious and I’ve loved getting out on some big walks, pottering around and soaking in all the spring colour with old friends and my mini besties.
I’ve had an epic client project move closer to the finish line with bespoke joinery and joyful colours. I can’t wait to see this one with all the finishing touches.
I went to the opening of concept store and explored the mind blowing storage solutions, gorgeous materials and beautiful colour pairings.
And a big giddy dance ensued when my new interiors column for hit the shelves last week.
May has got a tough act to follow 🌈🌈🌈

The most important reason I offer a free discovery call is to make sure we have a good rapport.

Interior design can be personal, and in order to get the best results, chemistry between you and your designer is essential!

We’re not just picking snazzy cushions together (although that might be part of it), but to design a space that works hard for you and your needs, I need to get to know you and understand how you live / want to live.

By understanding your lifestyle, interests and aspirations means I can tailor my design to suit your needs and solve specific challenges you might be facing.

Do you think we might be a good fit?

Why not book your free discovery call to find out? ;)

Hearing from past clients really puts a skip in my step, especially when I see how they've embraced colour and pattern to create a beautiful home that reflects their personality.

These piccies landed in my inbox on Friday afternoon and put a great big smile on my face.

This was a 'Designer for a Day' session last summer where the client had just bought their new home and wanted some guidance on how to make it feel like them.

I'm so proud and pleased to see the results and can't wait to see what she does next.

Why I like to use a lot of playful shapes in my schemes 🟠❤️🌙⭕️

To me - sleek, angular furniture can feel a bit harsh, too “grown up” and sometimes less inviting. Playful shapes have a gentler vibe and can feel more welcoming

Wiggles, curves, bobbins and scallops add visual interest and energy, helping to stop a room from feeling too static and bringing in warmth and movement

Shapes like a round rug can break up a structured layout to create a natural flow to your space and encourage you to explore

Beyond aesthetics, playful shapes evoke a sense of nostalgia and can bring comfort and light-heartedness, helping you express your personal style

So get a ‘wiggle’ on 🫣 and have a bit of fun with your interiors 🌈❤️🥳

DO YOU HAVE TO REPLACE EVERYTHING TO CREATE A ROOM THAT FEELS LIKE YOU?

As I sit here planning our bathroom refresh, one thing occurred to me that I wanted to share.

I hate our bathroom. It's white with lot's of brown, including brown mosaic tiles 🤢. It makes me sad (dramatic I know).

But replacing everything in one go isn't always feasible. The cost of the materials / labour, and from a sustainability point of view... sometimes hard to justify.

So can I make that bathroom feel more me and keep those pesky brown tiles?

Well I think so! I'm embracing the brown to go jungle. Having some lush green on the walls will bed them in and stop them being the star of the show. Their reflective qualities will even pick up the green.

And adding less expensive accessories like a new loo seat (pink obvs), a sink curtain and a colourful blind will tie the whole room together whilst adding some texture and warmth.

I know when we've implemented these colourful touches, the bathroom will start to feel a bit more us, and I may even not notice those little brown tiles anymore.

Are you looking for a room refresh whilst working with what you've got?

Have a lovely weekend,

Sarah x

I think I know why you might be scared of colour 😬😬😬

This is something I’ve been thinking about for a while. When studying, all the images of historical interiors were full of colour as far back as the 15th Century.

So using colour in interiors isn’t new at all, but why are so many interiors in the last 20 years so neutral?

Throughout the 50s - 90s, homeowners embraced colour in every aspect. Homes were individualised and full of self expression. These were bold homes with whacky themes and experimental techniques.

But by the late 90s, homes took a shift towards a more subdued colour palette, with many turning their back on bold colour combinations.

Y2K was littered with ‘shabby chic’ and magnolia and by 2010 interior design was re-shaped by the launch of Instagram and Pinterest. Trends spread rapidly and altered the way we designed our homes and minimalism soared through these platforms.

And with that, it killed creativity and individualism and the fear of colour was ingrained.

I want to help people be braver with colour and pattern again. Colour has magic powers. It can change moods and evoke emotions. It’s a tool for self-expression and creativity. I’ve written a full blog post for those that want to learn more (link in bio).

Do you agree?

Tag a friend who is nervous of colour and lets see if we can inspire them to step out of their comfort zone and embrace the joy that colour can bring into their lives.

WHAT CAN YOU ACHIEVE WITH ONE DAYS INTERIOR DESIGN HELP? 😮
I had the most wonderful 'Designer for a Day' session with a new client last week.
Whereas they weren't afraid to use colour and pattern, they had found themselves overwhelmed planning a whole home renovation.
We spent the session getting to the route of what they wanted to achieve so they could proceed with confidence, knowing that every decision would be anchored to the same goal.
We troubleshooted lighting, layout and décor ideas and then spent time playing around with swatches and samples to really get to the bottom of the client’s personal style.
And at the forefront of our minds for the whole session, was taking into account that her husband is visually impaired. Finding the balance of introducing colour, but the house still being light and accessible was key.
It was a fun and fulfilling session, with the cherry on the cake being the speedy and lovely 5* review.
I can't wait to see it all come together 🥰🥰🥰
