Because my flowers are grown seasonally, I don’t need to autumn-ify anything. The flowers blooming in the field are already doing that for me.

I live growing alongside the seasons. Why? Honestly because that’s how it is meant to be. That’s what I love about living here in the UK, it’s the seasons and how the landscape and nature changes. How certain colours seem to come at once like lots of purple and blues in May and burgundy and orange in October.

It keeps it interesting, it’s something to look forward and keeps everything naturally in rhythm.

So I won’t be preparing for Autumn or Autumnifying things…I’ll just let nature do its thing.

It’s September tomorrow so the start of the new growing season begins…it’s seed sowing time.

I’ll be busy juggling cutting flowers, clearing beds for the winter, planting out and sowing seeds ready so there will be flowers next year.

With that I’ll be looking back at this year: what worked, what didn’t, what do I need more of. It’s exiting but also slightly daunting as no year is the same.

I’m pretty tired and very much looking forward to the slower days of Winter.

I think this might be my favourite farm stand yet 🌈

The bunches are really popping this weekend — filled with the first zinnias and touches of everlastings throughout.

You’ll find them at East Chase Farm, Kenilworth, on the farm stand this weekend. Open from 1pm Fridays every weekend through the growing season until sold out.

A little look behind this wildflower cascade 🌿

My bride shared a Pinterest image she loved, and while I can always take inspiration, I’ll never promise an exact copy. Everything I create is led by what’s growing here in the field, at that moment in the season.

When you’re looking at inspiration, it’s about picking out the feeling: the colours, the shape, the style, not the exact stems.

For this one, it was all about open, daisy-like flowers, something soft, frothy and naturally a bit wild.

So I gathered what was ready: birch, fern, malope, strawflowers, daisies, achillea, verbena, ammobium and godetia and designed something totally unique to that week and year.

No two are ever the same — and that’s exactly the point 🤍

Locally grown, naturally styled, from the field here in Kenilworth.
