A spot of DIY: planter made out of old decking boards. With the gardening part of it, I tried to be as anti-consumerist as possible: the container liner is an old plastic bag; the moss is picked out of my partner’s lawn; the asplenium ferns were pulled out of the wall of the house where they must have self-seeded (self-sporulated?); the tulips were rescued from the garden where they have been neglected for years. Thank you to and for inspiration!

And here she is, Mantis. She was inspired by the famous green Beetle Dress, worn by the actress Ellen Terry for her role as Lady Macbeth on in 1888. But then Mantis went her own way, with a medieval escoffion on her head and generally much less terrifying than Lady Macbeth, I think. To me, she is observant and attentive to details; she is going about her castle, checking that everything is in order, larders are stocked, battlements are repaired, horses are fed and the courtyard is not slippery.
But that’s my story for her. What kind of character do you, dear followers, think she is? Please comment, I am interested to hear! 😊
