Muirhead Aviation Sales Director, Myles Hobbs, will be attending the Red Cabin Innovation Summit Europe from 1 – 3 June, joining industry peers to discuss the latest developments shaping aircraft cabin design and materials.

As airlines continue to balance passenger comfort, durability and sustainability, the event provides a valuable opportunity to exchange ideas and explore what's next for premium cabin interiors.

We’re pleased to announce that, following a long term focus on reducing environmental impact across Scottish Leather Group, we have achieved net zero greenhouse gas emissions for Scope 1 and Scope 2.

This milestone is the result of more than two decades of sustained investment and innovation, demonstrating how carbon can be decoupled from manufacturing within a traditionally energy intensive sector.

Since the early stages of our Journey to Zero in 2003, the emphasis has been on transforming how our leather is made.

As this approach continues to evolve, we remain focused on leading progress in more sustainable leather solutions across aviation, passenger transport and interiors.

We were proud to see Muirhead leather take to the runway on Friday night at the Burrell Collection for fashion designer Flora McFarlane’s show, 'Return to the Garden'.

A graduate of Glasgow School of Art, Flora creatively transformed our surplus leather into contemporary fashion pieces, showing how materials can be reimagined through thoughtful design and craftsmanship. Showcasing this work at the Burrell Collection, one of Glasgow’s most significant cultural institutions, made the evening especially meaningful.

A brilliant celebration of local talent, circular design and the strength of Glasgow’s creative community.

Last week, we were pleased to host guests at Leathersellers’ Hall in London to mark the launch of the CALLUM x Daniel Hopwood Lounge Chair and the official announcement of our partnership with CALLUMdesigns.

The evening brought together partners and industry guests for a discussion with Ian Callum CBE and Daniel Hopwood on the creative process behind the collaboration, alongside an exclusive preview of our forthcoming Natural Elements Collection.

Guests also had the opportunity to experience the craftsmanship and materiality of the lounge chair first-hand, with Muirhead ‘Rococo’ leather playing a central role in the final piece.

World Leather Day recognises the value of leather and the people and skills behind it.

Across aviation, mass transit and luxury interiors, leather is a material that sits in constant contact with people. It shapes how a space feels, how it is experienced, and how it supports comfort over time. That relationship between material and user experience is built through craft and understanding of how leather behaves in demanding environments.

As the Make It Leather theme highlights more considered material choices, World Leather Day is also a reminder of the human expertise that continues to shape leather’s role in shared and lived‑in spaces.

We’re proud to announce a new chapter for Muirhead.

Following a successful collaboration between British design and engineering house CALLUMdesigns and our sister company Bridge of Weir Leather, Muirhead has now officially joined the partnership.

This milestone brings our expertise in upholstery, interiors and custom projects into the collaboration and is marked by the launch of the CALLUM x Daniel Hopwood lounge chair.

Handcrafted to order, the chair showcases Muirhead 'Rococo' leather from our upcoming Natural Elements Collection with its natural grain and rich oxblood tone adding depth and warmth.

Manufactured using BioTAN technology, Rococo is tanned using a chrome free and metal free process, reducing reliance on fossil fuel derived inputs while maintaining the performance expected of premium upholstery leather.

Bridge of Weir Leather will continue to support CALLUM’s automotive projects, contributing its specialist expertise across this area of the partnership.

Our collaboration reflects a shared focus on quality and material innovation, and we look forward to what comes next.

A week on from AIX 2026, and the conversations from Hamburg are still resonating.

From lifecycle transparency to next‑generation materials, AIX showed a real shift from intent to action, with the industry asking deeper questions about materials and long‑term impact, not just aesthetics.

It was great to be part of those conversations in Hamburg and to share how we can support more responsible cabin interiors, without compromise.
