Meet the individual who founded NDspt—a visionary whose leadership has been instrumental in creating a vital platform for neurodivergent adults. Without his dedication and commitment, individuals within this community would lack representation, support, and access to essential resources for self-understanding and guidance.

🕊🌿 Meet the Team!!!

Its time to meet Andi!!! (Hey Andi when you see this 👋)

Co-Founder | Neurodivergent Specialist (Neurodivergencist) | Guidance and Support

Andi is the co-founder of Neurodivergent Support (NDspt), an autistic professional who brings together lived experience, specialist knowledge and professional practice to support neurodivergent adults in ways that are practical, collaborative and genuinely person-centred.

His professional journey has taken him through a wide range of roles and environments. Beginning with a background in animal and countryside management alongside working as a lifeguard, Andi then went on to develop an extensive experience in retail, business and regional management before moving increasingly into education, mentoring, disability and neurodivergent support.

As a Civil Servant, Andi progressed through roles including Work Coach, Neurodivergent Support Coach, Disability Employment Advisor, Neurodiversity Specialist Consultant and Neurodiversity Champion Lead. These roles developed his experience of supporting people around employment, disability, workplace barriers, benefits, communication and navigating complex systems, alongside contributing to neurodiversity training, guidance and more inclusive approaches.

What originally began as a personal journey to better understand autism grew into years of continued education and specialist development. Andi's qualifications, professional accreditations and training span autism, ADHD, neurodiversity, counselling skills, coaching, SEND, mental health, safeguarding, disability and communication. His specialist development also includes diagnostic training across autism, ADHD, bipolar disorder, OCD and fibromyalgia, alongside ADOS-2 training and advanced study in autism and ADHD. He is also a Member of the Complementary Medical Association (MCMA) and has received honorary recognition for his work.

For Andi, lived and learned experience sit alongside one another. His own neurodivergent experiences have helped shape an approach that recognises that no individual can ever be understood through a single label, diagnosis or textbook description. Knowledge is important, but so is listening to the person in front of you and understanding how different aspects of their life interact.

Today, Andi's work is intentionally broad because the people he supports rarely fit neatly into one box either. His work includes talking and listening support, mentoring, educational mentoring for adults, guidance coaching, self-discovery, neuro-affirming sessions, pre- and post-diagnostic guidance, autism and ADHD screening pathways, Right to Choose support, PIP and Access to Work guidance, workplace support, advocacy, supported travel and practical help navigating services and systems.

Educational mentoring is an important part of this work. Andi supports adults who may be returning to education, developing their learning or finding that traditional approaches do not work particularly well for them. Rather than assuming there is one correct way to learn, he works alongside the individual to explore how they process information, organise their studies and develop approaches that work with their own strengths and needs.

Community is equally important to Andi. After recognising a lack of local opportunities for neurodivergent adults, he created the Market Rasen Adult Autistic and ADHD Support Group, providing a regular space where neurodivergent adults can come together and engage. It reflects something central to his approach: when there is a genuine gap in support, he believes in exploring what can practically be done rather than simply accepting that the gap exists.

Alongside his direct and community work, Andi develops and delivers workshops and professional education around neurodivergence, autism, ADHD, language, communication and neuro-affirming practice. He also writes and undertakes independent, practice-based exploration, including his work around the Three Pillars of Neurodiversity, the distinction between neurodivergent and neurodiverse, understanding neurodivergence beyond autism and ADHD, and the development of Melodic Learning.

Education remains important to Andi, particularly because his own experiences have shown him that intelligence, ability and the way somebody learns are not always reflected by conventional expectations. He continues to study, research, write and question established ideas, believing that qualifications and accreditations should add to curiosity rather than replace it.

At the heart of Andi's work is a strong belief in fairness, individuality and collaborative working. He recognises that communication isn't always straightforward and that misunderstandings can happen when different communication styles, processing and expectations meet. His approach isn't about telling somebody who they are or deciding what should work for them. It is about working alongside them, sharing knowledge and helping them develop their own understanding, confidence and strategies.

For Andi, it is not about spoon-feeding someone an answer; it is about working in partnership.

Away from NDspt, Andi is a dedicated ice hockey fan, supporting both the Bristol Pitbulls and Sheffield Steelers, alongside his love of music, creativity, writing and exploring new ideas.

Ultimately, Andi's work is built around a simple principle: neurodivergent support shouldn't be about changing somebody to fit the world around them. It should begin by understanding the person who is already there.

🌿 Meet the NDspt Team, Jet

Wax Melts & Candles Creator | Lived Experience Professional

Meet Jet (Hey Jet 👋)

Jet brings creativity, lived experience and a growing understanding of his own neurodivergence to NDspt.

For a long time, dyslexia was one of the main recognised parts of Jet’s neurodivergence. More recently, his own journey has helped him realise that there is much more to understanding himself than being dyslexic.

He has begun exploring and learning more about other recognised neurodivergent factors, looking back at his own experiences with a different understanding and beginning to recognise why certain things may affect him in the ways they do.

That growing self understanding has also meant finding his own personal adjustments for everyday life. Rather than expecting himself to manage things in a particular way because that is what everyone else seems to do, Jet has been learning what works for him, what helps him regulate, and what can make different parts of day to day life more manageable.

That journey also connects with something Jet loves doing, creating.

Jet is the creative mind behind NDspt Wax Melts & Candles, creating them because he wants other people to have something they can genuinely enjoy.

For him, scent can be part of creating a comforting environment, enjoying a favourite fragrance, winding down after a busy or overwhelming day, or simply having something that helps create a moment of relaxation.

This is also why Jet is continuing to develop his knowledge through studying essential oils and aromatherapy.

He wants to understand more about scent, different aromas and the sensory experiences they can create, using that learning to further develop the candles and wax melts he makes. His aim is to create things that aren't just enjoyable to smell, but that people can incorporate into their own spaces and their own ways of relaxing and unwinding.

Jet’s lived experience is important because his own journey hasn't involved suddenly having all the answers.

It has involved recognising more about himself, questioning things he previously took for granted, making adjustments, developing his confidence and continuing to discover what works for him.

Alongside his creativity, Jet enjoys cooking and baking, music, spending time with friends, meeting new people and finding some peace outdoors and in nature.

While dyslexia remains part of Jet's story, it certainly isn't the whole story.

He is continuing to learn much more about what being neurodivergent means for him, and using some of that understanding to create things that might help other people find their own little moments of enjoyment and relaxation too.
