I'm excited to be bringing some new woven wool, jute, sisal, ceramic and driftwood wall pieces with me to the Great Northern Contemporary Craft Fair this weekend. I'm so excited to announce that I was successful in my Arts Council DYCP application to develop my ceramics practice starting with a residency with Maddie Rose Hills & Joya: arte + ecología / AiR which I'm so incredibly excited for!! Humber Street Gallery has a new window addition as we prepare to launch 'I am black because I come from the earth's inside' next Thursday. It feels momentous and incredibly exciting to have reached this point!!

It felt only right to begin the 'I am black because I come from the earth's inside' exhibition install weeks with an early morning, low tide, trip to the East Yorkshire coast. To sink my hand into salty wet clay, to smooth over flint curves, hag stones and nestle my body into precious sea caves all before having a cherry scone at the post office tearooms. My intentions are set yet fluid and I feel excited for what's to come with bringing this body of work together over the next weeks before the opening on 8th October Humber Street Gallery. It was great to return to my beloved local coastline which feels drastically different to that I just experienced in Wales. It felt great to re-root here, check-in and connect back with this part of the earth.

Last week we took a lovely trip to Swansea and the Gower to install works for Y Gwneuthurwr | The Maker Oriel Mission | Mission Gallery. I'm completely enamored by the space and the incredible collection of craft they are celebrating there. The local landscape is just breathtaking and I've returned feeling nourished and inspired. 🐚 🪨

Thank you to the wonderful team at Mission Gallery, to lovely Lucy and Zave for hosting me, my mum and Charlie dog on our trip and taking such good care of us!

Is there anything more alluring than the sun glowing through porcelain - we unloaded the kiln sherwoodwoodfiring this morning before I hit the road again on a trip to install work in Wales and have some well needed rest... I'll post more about this soon!

Thoroughly enjoying getting lost in some intuitive and experimental weaving in the studio recently. It's a joy to stretch out over the space and it makes me nostalgic for Life & Loom!
