Our workshop carries out lighting repairs, rewiring and restoration, helping bring old, unusual and much-loved fittings back to life.

Some jobs are straightforward.

Others require Gordon and a little bit of workshop magic. 🪄

As Director of John Moncrieff Ltd, Scott oversees the business and is also one of our go-to people when things get particularly technical, unusual or complicated.

With years of knowledge and experience behind him, he's often the final port of call when the rest of us need a second opinion, a decision made or someone to confirm whether the latest slightly unusual customer request is actually possible

Next up in our Meet the Team series, we're heading into the workshop to meet the man we turn to when something needs a little bit of magic…

Special Skill: Bringing things back to life
Most likely to be found: In the workshop, surrounded by something in several pieces
Daily challenge: Working out what somebody did to it before it arrived here 😂
Frequently hears: “Gordon… do you think you can fix this?”

From rewiring and repairs to restoring old and unusual light fittings, Gordon is the man behind much of the workshop magic at John Moncrieff Ltd.

Some fittings arrive needing a straightforward rewire.

Others arrive in a box of parts accompanied by the words…
“I hope you can put this back together.” 😬

Luckily, Gordon has a knack for figuring out how things work, how they should work and, most importantly, how to get them working again.

Next up in our Meet the Team series, we're heading into the warehouse to meet the man responsible for turning your orders into parcels…

Special Skill: Knowing exactly where that one random box is
Most likely to be found: Surrounded by cardboard, bubble wrap and a LOT of glass
Daily challenge: Getting everything packed safely enough to survive its journey
Natural enemy: The words “FRAGILE – HANDLE WITH CARE” apparently being treated as a suggestion 😂

Euan helps keep the John Moncrieff Ltd warehouse moving.

From picking and packing customer orders to organising stock and making sure everything gets out of the door safely, he's the man behind many of the parcels arriving on your doorstep.

And when your warehouse contains everything from tiny components to large, extremely fragile pieces of glass, packing an order isn't always as straightforward as putting it in a box!

Name: Greg Barron
Official Role: Technical Sales Manager
Unofficial Role: The Glass Problem Solver
Special Skill: Turning sketches, measurements and unusual requests into technical glass solutions
Most likely to be found: Discussing dimensions, tolerances and specifications
Daily challenge: Finding a solution for something that definitely isn't available off the shelf
Frequently hears: “It's a bit of an unusual one…”

Greg mainly looks after the technical glass side of John Moncrieff Ltd, working with customers on everything from standard laboratory and industrial glassware to specialist and bespoke requirements.

Whether it's a particular diameter, unusual shape, specialist application or something that needs to be made from scratch, Greg is usually the one tasked with figuring out what we can do.

And when an enquiry arrives with a hand-drawn sketch, three measurements and the words “hopefully this makes sense”… it's probably heading Greg's way. 😂

Daily challenge: Getting to the end of the to-do list before somebody adds another five things to it.
Amy is involved in a little bit of… well, everything.
Customer enquiries, quotations, orders, suppliers, paperwork, the websites, social media — and generally keeping everything behind the scenes at John Moncrieff Ltd ticking along.

If you've emailed us, messaged us on social media or called the office, there's a very good chance you've already spoken to Amy.

She is also responsible for bringing Cooper to work, which has done wonders for staff morale and absolutely nothing for office productivity. 😂
