Every year, as Christmas approaches, our workshop team gets super busy. We love seeing all your chosen fabrics transform into beautiful made to measure furnishings for your home. However, it pays to plan ahead if you want your home to be picture-perfect for the big day!

Our Christmas order cutoff for made-to-measure curtains, blinds, soft furnishings and upholstery, will be early November. But to ensure everyone’s home looks its absolute best in time for Christmas, we kindly ask that you consider placing your order as soon as possible.

Our workshop reupholstered these wonderful chairs using Sanderson ‘Capuchins’ fabric, a beautiful botanical fabric featuring pomegranates and lively monkeys!

We have an exciting opportunity to join our friendly team at County Fabrics.

From our home at The Watermill in Crook of Devon, we’ve been helping customers create beautiful homes for over 40 years, with an inspiring collection of fabrics, made-to-measure curtains and blinds, bespoke upholstery and interior design.

We’re now looking for a Sales Manager to join our team.

This could be the perfect role for someone with a genuine interest in interiors who enjoys working with people and takes pride in providing warm, knowledgeable and attentive customer service.

You’ll be working in a creative and welcoming environment, helping our customers bring their ideas to life and guiding them through our extensive range of fabrics and interior options.

📍 The Watermill, Crook of Devon, Kinross

Working hours (there is some flexibility on this schedule)
Tuesday, Thursday, Friday & Saturday
10am–5pm
May–August: we close at 4pm

One, potentially two, Saturdays each month could be swapped for a Wednesday.

Start date: 4th January 2027 (or earlier if preferred)
Training can be provided before then, where practical to both parties.

Relevant retail, sales or interiors experience would be an advantage, but it is not essential. We’re primarily interested in finding the right person — someone personable and enthusiastic, with a natural approach to looking after customers.

As the days get a little cooler and we start saying goodbye to the swallows as they make their long migration south to Africa, we’re reminded of a lovely project we finished earlier this year with our Enara Cloud Fabric for a holiday home in Norway! It’s always such fun seeing our fabrics travel to new places, and we love the feeling of calm these embroidered swallows bring to the room.

As with all our made-to-measure pieces, the journey started right here at The Watermill in Crook of Devon. Once packed up and sent on their way, it was so satisfying to see them hanging in situ in the bright kitchen window and staircase landing.

Did you know we offer a full interior design service? Our designer, Sarah, recently worked with our client to create this warm and welcoming space built for comfortable everyday living.

We can guide you through as much or as little of the journey as you need. For this project, Sarah's work spanned everything from initial creative direction to paint selection and lighting. She sourced the new wooden floor, vintage rug, and deep green sofas, even commissioning a bespoke leather fender seat for the hearth. Finally, Sarah worked alongside our Watermill workshop team to design, make, and hang the bespoke curtains and shaped pelmets.

Their latest passementerie collection features exquisite embroidered borders, wavy braids, bobble trimmings and so much more. Adding a beautiful trim along the leading edge of a curtain, the hem of a Roman blind, or around a plump cushion is such a great way to make something one-off and completely unique to your home.

There’s something comforting about a classic Scottish print, and our latest delivery from Voyage Maison has been keeping us busy rolling and measuring, getting them all ready to go online so we can share them with you ✂️🧵

From expressive, watercolour thistles like Meadwell, to the smaller, trailing detail of Hawick, we've loved seeing these roll out across the cutting tables. We've even had a few playful surprises coming through, like the wonderful River Fish (a personal favourite!) and the scenic Cairngorm woodland scenes.
