It’s my stitch group tomorrow - and I’m leading a session of potato printing. Maybe that seems very childish ? Well yes - it is! But it fits in beautifully with my theory of the inner child artist. Let that child out to play, and you can make glorious materials with the simplest techniques ###

Another beautiful piece of work from the Strippy Scrappy Patchwork Still Life workshop. This one was made by one of my American students - who is struggling with the appalling things the orange man is inflicting on her country and the world. Luckily we have safe creative spaces, which are full of love and support, and can serve to remind us that friendship, art, beauty and care will always be there for us - even in the toughest times. And I believe they will always win out.
She can’t see how beautiful this is right now (well done for still sharing!) - but we can can’t we?! ###

A happy customer is the best recommendation isn't it? This is a recent comment from one of the students who started the course last year:
''This is the first time I've actually felt I have produced design work that has then led on to finished pieces of textile work. I've always wanted to do this but I've never really been successful. Even with City and Guilds, so often we produced the design work after we completed the piece of work. This has made me so happy that I've got a big grin on my face. So thank you Hilary Beattie for such an excellent course so far''

6 month From Sketch to Stitch workshop starts in 3 days ❤️
Do you wonder how to create a sketchbook of designs based on a particular theme? And then even more so - how to move from that to a beautiful stitched piece of textile work?
If you do - this is your course. We look at how to make our own sketchbooks, or adapt others. We use many different media and learn different techniques for each theme, so providiing us with a variety of ways to create sketchbook design work. And we work thorough to turn our designs into textile pieces, again using different techniques each theme.
I showed some of the John Piper inspired sketchbook work yesterday, and today I’m sharing some of the gorgeous stitched pieces made by the students in our first theme ‘Still Life’
This is also a great course for learning how to use dyes, paints, paper, fabric and a variety of media in your work
This class covers the first 3 themes - each has lasted 3 months as we’ve enjoyed them so much. 78 videos with lifetime access for £200. Delivered into a private classroom on my college dedicated site.
That could easily keep you going all through the predicted wet winter and right through to Mr sunshine getting his warm hat on again!!
